Im quite new to the forum, readed a lot the past 3 weeks.. so actually my first post. And btw thanks for the forum, a really good place to find answers for all those questions when starting to make music 
I recently started to play a bit with Cubase and came up with my first ideas for my first tune in it. Far from ready but i think the idea and harmony of the track comes thrue, whole arrangement, Fx and more depth is missing.

Not too bad for your first track. But you have to work on your sound quality and depth just like you allready know....

Let me ask a question for people here..
Before you start producing a track, do you have a fresh and solid idea of how the track will be? Do you have a bright image of the track you will produce, and than you try to recreate? Before you start producing a track do you already have the big picture of it?
Or you have a theme idea or a just a melody, starts with kick and bass, and while producing the track you develop experiment and test incoming ideias, what sound to put in what place etc?

I generally have an idea of the sorts of sound im gonna use in the track, and if it's gonna be a happy one, a dark one (not that dark tracks arn't happy  ) etc, depends on the mood im in. The i make a fitting kick bass section and just create. I never know exactly where im gonna go until i've got the first couple of minutes made, and then it's still not 100%, it's al about trying lots of possibilities.
On topic:
Just made a tracks with a breakbeat section in it, which has made me really want to make a psybreaks track, will let y'all know when it's done
