Unless you have serious keyboard skills and intend to play the synth as a keyboard instrument, my recommendation is that you put the money into a very good computer, good monitors and a modest midi controller, or any of these that you don't have already. you could also even consider buying Reaktor or Max/MSP for all your (legal) synthesis needs.

Ehm, the guy asked for help with choosing one of the two Hardware synths. Who ever asked to start an argument about hardware VS software?

Ok, sure, as long as we don't slide to insults and mad offtopics, it's cool by me.           Everyone in the world is doing something without me

For 2500eu you can get both secondhand, can't you?

I have never used a Nord but a friend left his Virus classic at my place for a few days and I must say I was v impressed but if you are going to drop that kind of coin on a synth I suggest you go do a A-B comparison for yourself.

If I had to choose among those two ladies, I would choose Virus Kc: better keys than ClaviaŽs (I have a Nord Lead 2: Happy with sound, sad with the keys).

If I had to choose among any kind of synth, IŽll go for a Novation (semiweighted keys) and I would buy a Nord G2 rack

nick and das fung, u know when i first saw this post i wanted to say the same thing you say- invest the money in good computer and a good monitors- but then i thought about my situation when i just started making music and i was so much on buying a hardware synth and i did boght the virus kb- in fact today after i already replaced since my first purchase the sound card, monitors and computer i still have sentiments to my virus- even though softsynth is sometimes even better in the regular work-(no mixdown, seperate eq's, tweaking, automation and so much more) i still not regreting for investing in this synth- so anyway for your question i'm suggesting the virus kc - that's my opinion anyway.

and still das fung and nick got some point you can bear in mind and think of- whatever you are going to choose i don't believe you'll ever regret for buying one of this awesome synths.

If you intent to buy nord lead don't buy nord lead 3 as far as i know it didn't achieve nmuch success in the market as nord lead 2 so they made a newaer one nord lead 2X which is like back to the source with improvments,,,,,

I agree with motorik. The Nordlead 2x is great and very unique sounding. Its more raw sounding than the Nordlead 3 wich is warmer and more smooth. Depens on what you like but I'd go with the NL2x and a highend fx processor. Perhaps the TC Electronic Powercore element.
