If the files are deleted recently, and the HD hasn't been used much (writing new data) then there is a good chance of recovery.
Don't install the recovery program on the computer you want to recover files from!! Use a linux boot disc, or take the HD out and put it into another computer. Look on torrent sites for a BARTPE disc, this has recovery tools on it.
Try google for a program called 'Restoration' I think it's free and it works just as well as any other undelete app.
Remember, don't write anything to the HD or you may overwrite the deleted files.

Hi there!
There are several programs that do the job, but none of them are perfect.
I use EasyRecovery Professional and File Scavenger, and using both I still can't recover all the files. But it's better then nothing..
Hope you can recover your friends stuff and remember: ALWAYS DO REGULAR BACKUPS. No matter how good a hard drive is, sooner or later it WILL malfunction.
