For the end of the year 2007 I decided to make a special show. For people like myself, who entered the Trance scene in the recent years, the notorious sentence "The parties in the past were better" in its many versions always made me wonder if it is true or just a false memory.
This show will not answer this question, because there is no one truth or one definite past. But, it will however try to bring some opinions of people who are deeply involved in the Israeli Trance scene from the early days and try to listen to what they have to say about the parties in the past.
This show was originally made as a final work for the course - Media, Entertainment and Popular Memory, in my Communication and Management degree, and was extended especially for this show.
The People who are interviewed are:
* Guy Shanti - DJ, artist, formally known as half of Evil Drug Lords and later as Aerospace, Have founded the radio show Hafirot on Tel Aviv students radio 5 years ago, and quit recently.
* Asher Haviv - The founder of the mythological event (sort of a land mark in the Trance history) Ganey Huga - Drug less festival on 1997, later was one of the minds behind another landmark - the huge part/demonstration in Kikar Rabin in 1998 - Give Trance A Chance, and recently made the festival Holy Rave.
* DR.Borris - DJ, and one of the party organizers of the 3rd Empire. One of the founders of the TAZ festival that is running for the past 2 years.
* Danny K - DJ, Booking Manager for BNE records.
* Shahar - Founder of the Israeli Chill Out label - Aleph Zero, one of the founders of Isratrance.
* Gidi/Quantum - DJ, Artist, founder of one of the first radio shows of Trance - Trancefomator which lasted 8 years, founder of the Newsweek Magazine which lasted a couple of years.
* Sagiv - One of the members of the Moksha party crew.
* Oren Coma - Party Organizer, makes special Trance parties for people over their 30's called Vatikim (veteran).
* Zirkin - DJ, Artist, Party organizer of his own label - Doof. The past 4 years made an annual Doof festival.
I would like to take this opportunity to Thank all these wonderful people for their time and for giving all of us a better view on this issue.
No doubt that this is the tip of the iceberg, but due to lack of time it had to be one hour long. This is only an attempt to start investigating this fascinating subject.
