How do I start to work on a Live set? any suggestions for beggining since I have no idea here.
Rebuilding all tracks so they fit to Ableton? Or cut them all into WAVs and make a cubase live one?
I dont really want to make a "live" set like many do, so i will work hard over here to learn everything. Turning one knob during the set is not for me.

Good man.

To prepare a proper live set from your existing tracks will be a slightly tedious job I think but it will be worth it.

My suggestion would be to bounce down stems from all your tracks:
Kick
Bass
Hats
Snares
Crash cymbals
Other percussion
Leads
Pads
FX

etc... you'll end up with 8 or 10 (or more) audio files each the length of the tune. Make the kick and bass mono (unless you have a really good reason not to). It's up to you to decide how much of the processing and automation on each audio track you include, depending on the power of your laptop and how much interaction you want to be able to have with each sound when you play, bearing in mind you only have two hands!

Once you've got all your stems for all your tracks you can import them into Live and make a bunch of clips for each one, separating out the different loops and sections you used to build the track in the first place. At this point you should be able to reconstruct your tracks in a fairly basic manner just by triggering scenes in Live that play back the same combinations of sounds that you used in the original song.

Once you're at this stage, it's best that you take advice from the expert:

Obviously this is only one way of preparing a live set, and I'm sure other people here will give many equally good suggestions. Whatever you do though, please just keep repeating what you said above:

I'm in a similar position, but I was wondering if I need a great soundcard to work with Live on a laptop. I do all my production on a desktop and my laptop soundcard is just a basic onboard job.

The quality of output when playing live depends on your soundcard so it's worth getting one that sounds good.           Mastering - http://mastering.OOOD.net :: www.is.gd/mastering
