So i'll walk away from my desk in the middle of when I have my mix playing and when I get further away, it seems like the music is playing way faster.
When I come back to my speakers it feels like the music slows down back to normal speed.
Is there some reason behind this or am I going crazy?

yeah my bed is like at the level of the subs so when i lay down, the bass sounds awesome. I know what you mean.
maybe it's reflections or something that's causing the tempo change for me. It is odd though. I wonder if it could be caught on film if I took a camcorder and showed you guys the difference between 2 rooms.

Did you connect your body as a midi controller to the pitch of the track? |

Sounds like good acid, can I have some too?

Lol exactly my thought! had that experience in ozora after a Jelly-acid
on topic: Your def gonna experience different frequency response depending on where you are in the room as you mentioned. But a pitchshift thats not even possible unless you start traveling with light speed....... What acid did you take btw

If you are travelling away from the speakers at close to 340m/s then you may be approaching the sound barrier. There may be a Doppler or stretching effect.

I think I remember being told abt this in my audio classes....
I could be wrong also but as far I can remember it is caused normally with the distance.....
If you move close and far from the speaker you should notice some change in music itself completely....
Or if you don't want to move far and close and see what's happening just play little loud music and try covering it with your hands and uncover them slowly that is how I think my class teacher told me. the advice will be to sit in one position while making music.....
Our ears get sound by atoms travelling in straight line and if the line is moved by sound or ur ears getting them you are definitely to have some changes in sound
Well just writing this i just remembered one more example which was told to me
When we yawn there is a litttle tempo change in sound we experience it is due to the atoms trying to reach our ear drum which is trying to close because of our yawning..
You can test this experiment also

soundslike u are gettin bass reflection outside the speaker range, so when u walk way from the speakers u are hearin the reflection of the sound which s delayed and will have this speed effect coz you are going to be hearin the delayed sound mixed with the present sound.
and you should consider that the speakers range s a equilateral triangle.
if the speakers are away from each other 2 meters, u gotta be in the middle of it 2 metters away. so any range out of it would be considered out of speakers camp. in my opinion its something very important to know for people who dont have acoustic treatment.
i dont have room treatment, my home studio s in a small room in an apartment and i get this same speed effect acordin to the place im in the room.
hope i helpt
see u guys around,
