why do you think that the new layout of your studio is worser than old one ?

i suggest you to think how you learn your new layout aka hearing alot of music on it .......

maybe new design is better

but but but

if you want accustics in your room so i advice you to make wall that sound goin towards it to make accustic ... aka bo50 (natural accustic material) and wood

make squares 50x50cm of bo50 natural size of them , and five cm of wodd between them ..... glue all to wall ,wuala u have accustic room .......
i didn't see it coming ......mhu mu mu

this is a VERY difficult and broad subject.,

i dont think anyone wants to burn their fingers

acoustics depend on so many factors that it's very dificult to predict anything.,

it starts with the monitors, their weight, their design, what they stand on, their location, angle.,

then comes sound itself., how sound behaves in air is very much frequency dependant., high frequencies are more directive/reflective while lower frequencies are more spreading in all directions.,.,
therefore there are different kinds of problems you can have with the acoustics of a particular room.,

then comes the room itself ., this depends on size (width, heigth and depth), obstacles, reflective/diffuse surfaces, placement of the listener, etc, etc.,

so there is not much anyone can do for you., every situation is different.,

you can put heavy curtains on the walls and stuff., and that will help reducing reflections.,

standing waves are a lot more dificult to handle.,
you need to know your rooms modes and have tuned basstraps in the right locations .,
most people dont know this stuff (including me, i only have a vague understanding of this complex phenomenon) .,
that's why there are people specializing in this field of sound.,

and even when you do everything perfectly there is virtually 0% chance you will get the same acoustics as the other room you worked in.,

so i would advice to get some acoustical treatment in the new room and get used to the situation from then on,.,
also, try out different positions for both monitors and listener., this can already help a lot.,

greets.,

* you need acrobat reader to open the link if you don't have it- download it here http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html

a room shouldnt have related numbers,
i mean, sealing hight 2.5 and wall lengths
of 5m are bad, paralel walls are also no good,
if your monitors have filters for the bass
you can put them close to the walls if not
they have to be ferther away...

what else?

Well as i dont beleive in really cheap monitors (like m-audio) I would have to say Mackie HR624 but i listened alot to Yamaha MSP3.... if you are on a low budget go for MSP3....

As for acoustics, i have a room, and its about 2,5 x 5.... You can do lots of weird stuff to make good acoustics, as orik says parallel walls isnt good! (but how many rooms dont have this?)

One of the things that is effective, is to create a "roof" above your console, a wooden frame with a "non sound reflecting" surface inside (like rock wool).
The only thing i have been using for creating better acoustics in my studio, is furniture, and i promise you its the best ! =) Good luck!

Best monitors in my opinion are genelec! Since i have tried them i wouldn't buy anything else! Also after you finish your room you should listen to loads of music on them so you can know how to master your track...

Enjoy           Your sound, is your music, is your soul keep them all on the right track!

hey babba get some basstraps .. buy 4 and put it in each corner of the room u are using to make yo0ur studio ... then try to remove the thing that are more higher then the speakers like .. table cd towers etc ... to get a clean refraction or defraction.
the basstraps will help u in getting a clean shape and resonance of the bas in the room

they 'trap' the lower-frequency sound waves in a room and turn the sound energy into heat to prevent standing waves of bass frequencies. Those standing waves are really nasty, because they cloud objectivity when mixing.
