Wavetable synthesis

So my first introduction was with my Synthesis Technology modules on the eurorack system I sold last year. These two modules (E350 & E560) were amazing with the sound they could produce, and introducing a little further modulation was amazing, dripping organic lysergic forest sound.

So I tried a few demo's of software wavetable synths that were ok but not worth the cash & I'm reinvesting in a smaller (6u x 126hp) rack end of this month and am gladly doing so because I already have what looks like will be the main stay of my rack:

Which at my friends on the weekend sounded absolutely amazing by itself, add a little PEG &'some reverb and it's a true monster.

I've currently got my eye on the E560 & Mutable Instruments Warps as my next modules.

I can't decide if I want the 4MS Peg as it's rather large or the new WMD/SSF Pingable filter as well.

Any thoughts etc. on wavetable synthesis?

ive had a few myself..

Braids... sounded awesome but more than my needs and couldnt really get into the module to tweek it seeing as its kinda like patching presets......

Shapeshifter.. had one and sold it only to buy it again... i think the first time i had it i was expecting something else but now im a bit more settled in what i need from my modular .. its a monster ... but definately could do with some ways of swapping out wavetables tbh,,, some of them are crap

Morphing terrarium ..... out of alll the ones i owned and the others i had the change to wiggle i would say this had the best sound... tho it really doesnt shine till you sort out some attenuation for the modulation inputs.... subtle CVing is definatelly the way to go with this baby

aint had any experience witht the FLAME 4 VOX but Ebotronix ( https://www.youtube.com/user/Ebotronix )has it on all his stuff... he's even patched it into the buchla skylab hes got... ( maybe prefers it over the buchla osc// i dont know... youd have to ask him)

what i found with most Modular Shop's is that if you dont like the module and it's in perfect condition they;ll take it back and let you get something else.... cant loose as far as im concerned

Mutable stuff has some serious legs... do you know about the Parasites ALT firmware.... has 3 already for various module's and also a shit load more in the pipeline... Free and always mantain the original features........

https://mqtthiqs.github.io/parasites/

( also sme info in this thread on the mew PARASITE frimware for WARPS... adds anothe 8 modes of wigglocity
...... https://www.muffwiggler.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=127960&start=675 )
quote from mqtthiqs ...

"I worked on it last week over Christmas break, had lots of fun. In a nutshell, there is now an easy access to 9 different modes, of which the stock behavior of the module -- scanning through different cross-modulation algorithms -- is only one (I call it META-mode). The other 8 modes are of two types:
- some go deeper into the one of the algorithms, providing two controls instead of one, so a much richer tonal palette,
- some are completely new, but I'd rather leave the surprise for these little babies "

Theres an alt firmware for TIDES by Mutable which turns it into a wavetable and a harmonic osc as well.... cheeper than most the others and also a shit hot modulator as well

my advice..... get on muffs... get a hundred posts
then hit the B/S/T thread and shop yer brains out...
buy second hand + sell second hand..= never loosing any cash...
plus post Winter Namm on muffs is just fucking crazeeeeee!

anyhoo,,,,,,,,,, hope this helps

Yeah mutable instruments other than warps doesn't really interest me. I've got a friend who pretty much entire system is MI & I reckon he should've just got a Virus TI. Sounds great but to me it doesn't seem to be enough Modulation options.

Yes I had an E350 & a Piston Honda MK 2. The Flame 4 Vox to me seems like an expanded version of the E350. piston Honda I still love & it might also join my case

Yes you're right, I mostly buy from Analogue Haven as he does allows the returns & also regularly has items in stock.

I've got my 126hp x 6u portable case coming end of this month and this is my plan

It's not definite but I find it good to have a general plan.

Most likely the Piston Honda will go in favor of the MI Shelves.           Cuntus Maximus.

make sure you get the Rev 2 shelves.. has the filter expander built in for the same cash

thats a bad assed rig bud,,,,, im jealous
you might need more VCA's tho
ah ... i didnt see the Bastl

and No LPG??........whaaaaaat... ( just kidding lol )

Check out Malekko as well..... if i was to only to have a single manufacturer system ... it would be those guys/./. fucking awesome.... the sound... funtionality and tracking are exemplary

been through most filters and gotta say ..... went back to malekko... borg 1 and borg 2 now reside in the COLD DEAD HANDS category...despite the size of the two of them

plus the VCA has the best clipping in eurorack . ( imho )

Euro on hold again as I just bough an MS-20 mini for $200 discount off retail. Will probably now need to get Harvestman English Tear so it can interface nicely with Euro.

Eurorack version of the Waldorf wave/microwave synths, worth considering.

Or their eurorack keyboard https://ask.audio/articles/waldorf-introduces-eurorack-pack-selfcontained-eurorack-synth-system

If they sell the keyboard empty I'd grab it & fill it WMD/SSF modules 😀

Got into wavetable synthesis seriously about a year ago when I decided to do the Serum subscription. After reading up on the history and such, as a good nerd should

It's definitely become one of my favorite styles, its just really quick and painless to get nice gnarly machine sounds (basically...) as well as clean analogish type, but I feel like that's kinda beside its point.

Definitely have a wavetable oscillator module in mind when/if I start a Eurorack addiction.

I've got the Audiothingies Micromonsta which has noninterpolated wavetables making it even easier to get gnarly sounds. Still working on figuring out how to make and upload my own wavetables...

And that Malekko groovebox, the BFF, if I remember correctly is a 4 voice with wavetable oscs and VCF/VCA etc downstream. Which really has my interest, despite the last announcement being like 17 months ago.           .

Ended up with the Erica Synth Graphic VCO in my eurorack. It’s realky nice for ambient explorations.

I mainly produce IDM & ambient music now, psy trance got a bit meh but every now and then I’ll knuckle down to do a forest track for friends who DJ.

Have a friend who has the Percussa, I’m not a big fan of multi function modules. If I wanted multi function digital I’d just got back to boring old Ableton & VSTs.           Cuntus Maximus.

This looks pretty cool too...

I think a big one one in 2018 is going to be 3D (3 Axis) wavetable synthesis now that the new Rene is out. Imagine it combined with a Piston Honda MkIII.
