hmm so you think a single value of the release is appropriate for an entire file? ARC is dynamic : the value of the release is changed automatically through the duration of the file.

Well I suppose it is possible to automate the release yourself, but you would have to be some kind of super-hero to attempt this!! hehe

I think you're right to manually set the release sometimes if a particular 'special effect' is desired.... but I think maybe ARC is better for all round transparent limiting?

Jon - I agree. SG - a manual release setting that is appropriate for eg. a smooth breakdown might not be appropriate for the track when it comes back in with a hard percussive section. You maybe dont understand what me and superglue meant , ARC is good and (it is proved to be good for long decayed sounds) but not using it every time.You cant use it for example when you make release time pumping effects.
