If u want, send me a PM with your email and I can send you a PDF file explaning how to use L2 (confirm first if you don't have it in the L2 vst folder)

About diference form L1 I dunno......I don't have L1...

you can download all the waves manuals from their homepage :

I think the two main differences between L1 and L2 are that L2 has an algorithm to automatically control the 'release', and will dither.

Not sure of the actual limiting algorithm used in them.... perhaps it is the same? But I think the L2 replaces the L1 because of the extra features.

I think the L2 is newer, based on a bit newer technology and he sounds better imo-

Same like Waves C4 and Lin MB           Space is the place

In the 60's, people took acid to make the world weird. Now the world is weird and people take Prozac to make it normal.

But if you're series, so it's a better algorithm to process the signal

The L1+ Ultramaximizer is Waves premiere limiter. L2 Ultramaximizer, is a rack-mount version of the L1.
While L1 was rlsd to make a mastering i think its much more better to put it on more individual parts of the mix like on effects channel or on kick or bass or whatever.
When using it as a track insert you must disengage the noise shaping and dithering options which used only on final mix.
The limiter also like waves say has warm sound but it is not so true - it cant be so used like a soft limiter.
This tool is very very good - you cant get more from a limiter.

Again about L2 there is no setting in L2 which can make it better than L1.Seems like the same things - lets remember than we need it as limiter and not to make the sound sound warm or clear.

hmm well the L2 (software and hardware) has ARC and also improved nosie shaping in the dithering section, according to the L2 manual

Dthering and noise shaping options exist also in L1.look right side to the meters....
ARC - its auto release control - although like it said in manual its good to use it anytime , its not so useful when you make a very light limiting.
I think it will be more useful for you to set up release time by your own.

I am a bit scared of manually setting the release control when mastering.... maybe for light applications you should just have a fairly quick release? Ill keep ARC on most probably.... but Ill have an experiment.

Yup the L1+ has dithering (not the L1 though). But the noise shaping is better in the L2 : it's 9th order. It's 2nd order on the L1+. I have no idea what that means, but 9 is better than 2 right?? hehe

Sorry for going on Te_nTe - I promise I am not _trying_ to be annoying... I am just really pedantic
