Hello all!

Probably a silly question but in the waves bundle, there's two types of EQ. One is REQ and the other is the normal 2,3,4 pointEQ (can't recollect the name. )

Can someone Please tell me what the difference is between the two?
Also, which ones should i be using for what? (just some basic examples so i get an idea)

Hope it makes sense and Thanks in advance.

I could be wrong, but i think that the REQ is a vintage eq emulation (R = Renaissance = rebirth of something old, y'dig ? ). So i guess that the REQ has a slightly coloured sound that is similar to older analog eq's and pleasing to the ear. The Q10 (and the other multiband eq's) on the other hand is probably more linear because it doesn't have to sound old.

Try both on the same piece of audio with comparable settings and A/B the results for a comparison; you'll hear the difference and know which piece of audio needs which (r)eq.

The Renaissance eqs are for restorating old audio material. This is the reason for their name, so i don't know if they colour the sound because the they don't need to sound old, they want old stuff to sound new

Req for sure is better.
for example try to play with the Q of low pass.

but may be the normal is better in a way.. cause u can choose what filter type u use on evry single point.. Req more decide for u.. but in a right way           www.sattelbattle.com

Yeah... i tend to only use the REQ e.q.s
Unless i need to e.q. really small notches in which case I use the Q e.q.s as there Q values go much higher than the REQ ones...

So, it doesn't make any difference whihc one i use then. Super!
somehow i feel more comfortable with the REQ e.q.s. Maybe its the way it looks or something.

We must catch up sometime now that i've finished my fuckin exams and shit.

Cubase's eqs are not the best but are okay if you use them on simple elements in a mix that aren't in the spotlight of attention.
