Depends on what you're talking about. You can't really say good/bad overall since it's different for everyone (unless you only want to consider the music that was released, which would be a poor metric).
Personally 2009 was better than 2008 for me. 2010 is already looking to be better than 2009 and that's all I really care about. If you find ways to improve things for yourself and those around you in the scene, things will always get better.

History is repeated! Like 10 years ago with the industrial/dark techno influence and a techno with more progressive approach, we are coming again again to techno with different formulas for sure. The best releases of 2009 have to do with techno plus a lot of techno music from brilliant techno producers being played at psy festivals.. So I realy like it because I've always liked techno music (god bless X-dream, The Delta, Midi Miliz, Gabriel Le Mar, Fuenf D, Montauk P for this ) and because the traditional progressive trance and psy trance became so boring.. Some exceptions however from Neurobiotic, Nano and Alchemy records with some nice techno influenced full on.

yes, because of the awesome releases that have come this year, the great parties and events the good flow etc etc
no, because of all of the shit that is happening that ruin the scene..there are some called "psyheads" that keep on killing the scene, etc etc..
that is why: yes and no

lol!just wish that won't appear some artists similar to skazi, astrix or gms and destroy the natural flow of music evolution once again, like skazi and his friends done some years ago..
|
|
well i agree to certain degree with you.
i agree that in some point they lost their way..or at least they did not make what we liked and started to make what they liked, or the money talks etc etc..
but i still consider their 1st works, Skazi animal, gms 1st album to be milestones in this scene, original and creative and highly psychedelic

i wouldn t mind gms coming back with some real psychedlic psytrance, they could save us a other time in fact, remember when psy was so boring and gms was releasing bombs after bombs , a bit the same hapened with astrix years later ,then we got disapointed by their new direction, things like that will always hapen.. |

i am happy aswell.. Great success with more faster and harder darkpsy. I also enjoy alot of the more sinister and twisted images and sound made last year... New labels popping up, with great great potential.. Alot of free releases also, showing a very active scene.
Festivals play heavy psychedelic music, i have some of my best moments on the dancefloor last year.. Really amazing and the vibe is totally shamanic and full power !!
For me psycrowdelica showed how many more people enjoy this now, from about 200 people in 2007 to about 1000 in 2009, its a great progress !!!
Its a great time for darkpsy i would say !!

i say hell no... i actually find more than a few fullon releases i like, more than that progressive trance has actually made a comeback (and no i dont mean all this electrohousy shit people for some reason call progressive, nor minimal tech) - with artists like liquid soul/suntree/ritmo - special mentions go out for iono/echoes and tribal vision records.
and of course my favorite type of music is making its biggest comeback in recent years - goa trance - just look at the amount of artist albums released in 2009, and take a look at festival lineups... 2009 has definately been a good year in my eyes |

i dont know about 2009..but i can say 2010's first worst gig for me was GMS ...
they scammed me off my money and they took me to the club. I know what they were playing, and I remember it was horrible.
