We are happy to announce that Ingrooves and Beatport took Warp Brain Recs. to their hands.
That means, we are no longer releasing CD formats at this time, since it gives us loss money and such.
So, We are moving digital, and with a great distribution!, that will give us the chance to share real profit with the releasing artists instead of explainning that the CD sells did not cover.
So, if you want to release with us and appear on Beatport and the best digital stores around.
You are welcome to dontact us, just PM or
warpbrain.records@gmail.com
The only condition they gave us is that we need a minimum of 2 releases per month, so, we will be very open to EP releases and such.
So, come and join us to this new opportunity. |

Good luck
It's interesting that I've seen a couple of labels advertising for artists to contact them to release digitally, and they're all saying "get in touch if you want to release with us". This seems to be the reverse of the traditional way that labels have been proactive in finding artists, which is to find someone making good music in the style they like, and ask them if they want to join their roster. Of course, artists have always approached labels they want to release on too, but it's only recently that I've seen labels advertising for artists to contact them in this way.
It makes me wonder about issues such as quality control: because the label is required to release 2 releases a month, there is pressure, which might result in them releasing lower-quality music than if they had the choice of how often they released stuff, purely in order to satisfy their contract with Beatport.
It also makes me wonder about the financial model: having myself had a recent digital release which got to #1 on Trackitdown and almost got into the top 10 on Beatport (breaks charts), but which apparently didn't make enough to pay for the mastering, I wonder how much releases will sell for, what percentage the artist will get, and how long it will take the artist to get paid for a release.
I'm sure Warp Brain are honest and above-board, but posts like these raise questions for me in general

Oh, we will screen very well the material received, plus, we will contact artists too, believe me, we never compromised on any of our releases so far. and never will.
Label will offer 50% of the sells, mastering costs will not take part of deduction, that's a great feature we offer as digital releasers. INgrooves is probably the biggest digital distributor out there right now, so, we are all in the same boat, if it sells, 50% will go to the artist, but that will be spoken between the label and the releasing artists, so far, CDs gave us loss, so we did not have the pleasure to share the goods, but we strongly believe that with this new distribution, promotion and income willl become a reality.

Again, we will never compromise, and thank god we got a great chain of artists that we are in contact with.
Please, This thread is for possitive and supportive matters. There is no preassure.
By the way, its not only us who Ingrooves demand and beatport 2 releases per month, its ALL Psy and such labels have the same demand.
Plus, we already have material for next 6 months already , and it was screened and it's great music. |

Whom do you use for mastering? What style of sound are you looking for? This bit of info might save you a lot of sorting out music...
Also, does that mean that you can release within 6 months of signing an agreement?
It is true what Colin says, labels seem to approach artists more than they used to. At least me... maybe it is because I have had a couple releases now? Not sure about that one...
Congratulations on going digital, it seems to be the way of the future for sure... so good luck to you guys!

I had no idea either as I did not get that info in the PM. So just did a bit of Googling and found out.
Also, and I am only saying this to avoid your messages looking like general spam, try to be a bit more precise about what it is you want, like say, hey I heard "x" track from you and I want to release it, instead of a general, if you want to go on Beatport, send us your tracks.
That is all, good luck with everything!
Peace out.

Something I am interested in as well, as our latest release on Neurobiotic is today at #9 on Beatport's Psy-trance chart
https://www.beatport.com/en-US/html/content/genre/detail/13/psy-trance
And there was no mastering money involved as I mastered the EP.
P.S. Edoardo, if you are reading this, I am not questioning your ethics, you're a brilliant DJ/producer/bloke
Peace out.

Here is the list of our Cds released.
All mastered by "Enertopia".
There is one release on the way that is mastered by Enertopia and Onnomon.
Also, a release on the way mastered by Wizack Twizack.
Hope mastering issue it's clearer.
Wishing all the best. |

Would anyone selling on Beatport care to share how many sales it takes to hit the psytrance charts? I'm very curious about that.
One thing to keep in mind: when you sell on Beatport you trade exposure for income. Strangely, due to the format, a lot of stuff that lands on Beatport isn't even pirated... so you had better hope the income is worth it.

@ Basilisk
Well I can share the numbers you need for the House and Deep House (Probably more popular genres on Beatport).
To make it to the Top 10 you'll have to sell approx. 100-150 unique downloads in the Deep House section and approx. 200-250 in the House section.
So my estimate is you just need to sell approx. 20-30 unique downloads to make it into the top 50 in the psytrance section.

I have no clue, mostly because I think Beatport is not the first place that someone that is into psy-trance, will go to buy music, unless he is into that prog-clubby sound. That is not an educated conclusion though, its merely an assumption, although I have no idea what the average psy-trance listener's, buying habits, are today.

My non-educated guess, is that everything finds its way to pirated sites. I know people that downloaded our first two albums that were available for free on Ektoplazm, off pirated sites...talk about the average psy-trance listener's buying habits, eh?!
Peace out.

Absolutely everything I post on Ektoplazm is almost instantly pirated in all formats. It is a bit amusing... and only really ticks me off when they strip out links back to the source.
Really, one should only worry when the pirates can't be bothered to distribute your music

We are glad you guys can have a converstation on this thread....
But we put it up for artists that want to release their music with us and to be distributed by INgrooves and Beatport.
We have two ways, one, the artists contact us, and we listen to their demos, second, we contact the arists we like and ask if they are interested.
Peace. |

So what do you really offer, other than a chance to be promoted by a relatively unknown label (to me) on a couple of digital download sites of dubious effect. I know at least half a dozen that are offering the same, what is your unique selling point, what are you going to do for the artist that is above and beyond what the others are offering?
I wish you all the best with your venture, but it does make me stroke my chin a bit.
