I love Operator basses, but the thing is, I don't use Live to write/produce.
Im curious if there is a vsti 4-operator FM with similar preset algorithms and if possible the same basic no-nonsense GUI without any onboard effects or extraneous modulations.
So far my search has turned up this:
http://www.vst4free.com/free_vst.php?plugin=eFemme&id=802
It has most of what Im looking for, but only 4 different waveforms. Doesn't really come close to Operator.
The only other FM vsti Ive found useful for bass is MDA DX10, which sounds nice but doesn't really have a lot of flexibility.
I might be chasing a wild goose, but if anyone has any ideas Im all ears

@will yeah thats pretty much the only solution, I was just curious if a similar vsti even exists. Im pretty sure Ive searched every vst database/blog/forum, plus all the obscure developers' sites I know, without success.
@lunarbeats yeah Im sure similar sounds could be made with FM8, but it would take a whole lot more careful work. Operator is so quick and painless because it only has the most basic parameters, barebones GUI, and preset routing algorithms. FM8 is great for complex FM sound but for simple basses I find its way too much work.

I can understand some of the ease of Operator, but at the end of the day, you can just record a long note and sample it.
