Someone told me a long time ago that Mr Oizo was a Daft Punk side project. I just looked it up and that's not even close to being true, except they're both french.
Do they master their own music? Is there any reason for me to think Daft Punk is cool at all now?

You can't seriously claim that you didn't know Daft Punk use samples? -actually i thought that was the whole point with that filtered House/tech-dance-whatever stuff?...

Yeah but I mean the sampled elements are almost the whole thing
On the other hand, perhaps I could take a lesson from them, and write a 2 bar loop like 'Around the World' and called it a day instead of trying to make these 6-10 minute trance masterpieces that I never finish.
Anyway, don't take me seriously, all music has some virtue. |

the father of one of the duo is a 70s famous french disco producer and they obiously have inheritate his knowledge. they do quality music and i'm sure as hell they know what their talkin about. they use mainly analog gear.
good music is not about complexity, what they do is pretty simple , their technics is used in hiphop and bigbeat ect...
fatboyslim chemical brothers.........ect...... they all sample but they produces and are very creative. they still play lead lines and make there own bass, percussion.ect... its actually not that different from making trance exept there is this real acoustic feel that adds something and definatly makes it less synthetic. hence the top charts.
trance will never be there because of that.... it probably doesn''t want to be there either.... |

if u dint respect the original artist that COMOPOSE the tune , for me its like u admit u care shit about art.

ok so according to you guys sample based music is no good....
fair enough! Ichallenge you to do hits like daft punk. use any source you want... lets see what you guys come up with.
if you do some research you ll get to find some of their interviews, will find out what gear they use ...... the first album of daft punk was released in 1997 do you really think that was computer music ? I mean the use of computer is been there for a while but computer music is relying only on a computer more or less do make a piece and in 97 you did not have analog sounding synth or analog sounding vsts.
there sound sounds analog and analog does not mean using a mood modular but also ext hardware gear like thermionic culture vulture Valve Distortion Unit, or mutators, old pedals..... . they do and i can hear it.

I played with DAFT PUNK at the Dance and Levi's 2 festival in Israel.
First of all, they are extremely snobish, they dont talk to no body, not even the media.
But, they gave a super nice LIVE show, all analog and sequences.
