One of my mates has recently bought a voice expansion for his waldorf xtk but has been unable to install it.

Has anyone fitted this expansion board before (give me details please!!), or does anyone know of a way to reset the machine to it's factory settings (a key combination or magic spell would be great).

Thanks psy-dudes

wow, nothing in the manual about it either. have you tried a system update on it (reload the os)? other than that i don't know what to tell ya. i'm kinda curious where your friend got it from and how much he paid, though.

Sorry it's taken me so long to get back to this post (busy with cubase!!).

My mate bought his XTK years ago (back when Waldorf were still running) but only recently decided to get the upgrade (along with a Virus C).

You can occasionally pick XTK's up on sound on sound website/ magazine or E Bay for around £400 - £600 (no idea what that is in $'s).

Anyway, I found out that there are a number of different XTK models, and that older models are harder to upgrade. In fact, some XTK's need the expansion board SOLDERING ONTO THE MAIN BOARD (cue danger signs and sirens!), while first generation XTK's cannot be upgraded, needing a main board replacement from Waldorf!

However, he's managed to get in touch with an ex-Waldorf engineer and his synth is currently being repaired and the board fitted by this dude in Germany (after sales support to the extreme!).

They really are beautiful synths, unique in fact, I gotta get one too

sorry, i wasn't clear. i allready have the xt, i was wondering where he picked up the expansion board at (i'm sure it's not the same board, i was just curious to see who is still selling them).

i guess you can't do much better than having a waldorf engineer hook it up though. glad he's getting it sorted.

My mistake dude (I'd blame it on the herb's but I was always stupid:))

He got the expansion from Turnkey (uk) http://www.turnkey.co.uk

There has been some rumours of a new range of XTK's being released (no idea who will be behind this, but it may well invole ex-Waldorf members).

If you're gonna get an expansion (I think he paid about £150 for his), get the Turnkey salesdude to find out if your machine needs to be sent to Waldorf or if you can manually install the expansion on your model.
