there's 2 yellow ( 2 different color for the wheel), i think they are the first produced and
you have the blue with red wheel and the new one phoenix edition.there is a lite version with 12 voices of poly ,the standart with 25 and the omega with 75 voice, check a site cause i m not really sure ... also they are difficult to program cause you don t have evrything in front of you . |

Theres a midi editor from soundquest that functions like a vst
http://www.squest.com/Windows/Instruments/WaldorfMicroQ/index.html
Theres also a java based one called mqedit which I used for a few years. Try googling it up.
In terms of usability, its a fun synth to program but a little tricky to fit in a mix. It sounds soooo nice that it kind of needs some dirtying up at times. The FM capabilities are great but can also sound very hard and harsh at times. Inbuild fx are pretty crap.
For clean full-on basslines its amazing if thats your thing. Just has that hard rounded fullness in the bottom end.
Very clean sound.. too clean at times. Pads... yes.... fx... yes leads... no..
It was my first hardware synth and now I have a nord and virus I dont use it quite so much. I don't think I'll ever sell it though. It does so much wierd shit that software cant.

Axolotyl pretty much sums it up.
i think if you want to use it with vsti's its going to sound pretty weird in the mix.
waldorf has a very destinctive sound in general.
i think it would be pretty cool though to make a whole project around its sound though. you would have to really like programming though in order to do that.
