hi,
i used to have a microwave.
it had a realy lovely filter with a clean top end and a fat bottom.
does anyone know of a filter plugin with a similar sound and envelope curve to waldorf? (not their own plugins)
greets.,

most of the ohmforce plug-ins have decent filters, but the one I am usually recommended is TC Filtrator and there is also TC Filtroid, which is basically 2 Filtrators together plus whatever else (don't have it myself) which is available for TC Powercore only. Looks the biz-ness. The Antares one is quite complex and can do some wacky things. |

waldorf is a synth manufacturer.,
they are the inventors (i think) of wavetable synthesis.,
anyway, their synths have a very characteristic filter/envelope combo with very sharp envelope times and a very precise resonance on the filter.,
cant seem to find that in any plugin.,

hehe.,., yeah, i tried it already., but it doesnt have reliable envelope triggering., or i havent found it yet.,
anyway, i ont like the sound too much., it sounds worse than the microwave XTs digital filters.,
i'm thinking of buying a secondhand pulse at the moment.,.,

ofcourse you cant get teh exact waldorf-analogfilter sound, like in the pulse, with just one plugin..
i guess you could try PSP Nitro, which is more of an general FX plugin, but it has a dope filter, and in combination with something like a nice saturator you can get quite close to an 'analog' sound..
'nd ofcourse the big n bad om-boyz filter (Quad Fromage) is very nice, and is far more.... veelzijdig;)... than say, the filter of a pulse... you get a huge choice of filtermodes, the standard low/hi/band/notch.. and alot of exotic ones..
lots of LFO's for modulating everything.. and nice automation on top..
so i guess you can come quite far emulating the waldorf pulse/microwave filters with most of the top-end filterplugs but it may be more fun and more productive to try out the more wacky shit
goodluck,

why not?

i'm not looking for the 'analog' sound.,.,
i'm looking for the 'Waldorf' sound
but i'll give it a try anyway !
the point is that waldorf filters have certain characteristics that i need.,

I guess it is impossible for any plugin to recreate Waldorf filters faithfully. I´ve got a microQ and it´s combo and lp filters sound better than D-pole for instance, which is "supposed" to be the virtual version of this rocking filtha.
aila, thus |
