Fellow New Yorkers,
I have been studying in Ithaca, N.Y. It is very very isolated and people from this region do not even know how to spell psychedelic trance. They have no idea what Psy-Trance is. I have being trying to spread the vibe and I have tried to get more people to listen to this kind of music, but my efforts have been futile....
All over U.S.A. there are parties and groups such as Touch Samadhi and the Audiognomes have been hosting/playing at these parties. Yet these parties are very central, in that they are located around the Mid-West region of the US. There are a lot of parties in NYC as well, but thats too far away from where I am from.
I feel that there should be more parties in the Upstate New York region. Places like Syracuse and Binghamton can serve as great places to host psy-trance events. I have been Dj'ing and producing music for a couple of years, and coming from India, Psy-trance is my life blood. I feel that if a bunch of people get together and setup a "collective" that hosts parties in Upstate N.Y. that would be incredible.
If anyone has any ideas, opinions, thoughts on how we can go about achieving this goal please reply! I would really like to awaken the Upstate region to the blissful vibe of PSY!!!! unfortunately I cannot do this alone. So I request my fellow ravers/trancers to come up with suggestions...

im in much the same situation in pittsburgh. We use to have a nice little scene here but the guy who threw the parties moved to portland.
Probly the best thing would just be to rent a car from a rental place and drive to cleveland or philly. Im not really sure what other options there are. |

There used to be quite a bit of psy in Rochester, NY a few years back, like 97-99 or so.. 
Toronto has a nice scene from what I hear. Also, Omnidance festival was in upstate New York on Echo lake the last 2 years.

The OmniDance festival is a great experience no doubt. I really wish I could go for that festival unfortunately, as a student, I cannot afford $100 per ticket hahahaha.
You're right about Toronto though. My girlfriend lives in Toronto and I travel there often enough. Everytime I am there I get to see some great acts. Tegma performed there recently, also Broken Toy is playing on the 11th at a great place in Toronto.
However, I wish Upstate N.Y. would have more parties that are affordable  That is what would make me a happy raver.

Early bird tickets for OmniDance are much cheaper than 100, I believe they were 60 last year. And even 100 is well worth it. Can't wait to see what the Omnitribe crew prepares for this year.

Having gone to college in upstate ny, I am pretty familiar with the electronic music scene in that area...from around 1999-2001 I used to go to events in Albany, Syracuse, Binghamton, Rochester, Buffalo, and Ithaca...It was Juno Reactor who played in Rochester back in 2001, I believe...as for psytrance up in that area, I don't think you will find parties that are all psy...for that, I think that from where you are, Toronto would be your best bet. However, check out www.eclectech.net, a crew that throws parties (not exclusively psytrance), mostly in the syracuse area...two of their djs play psy. Hope this helps
