I've been tossing this idea around for a while and I think I am going to put forth the effort. I am going to form a small business to make audio FX, but I want to focus on psy trance.

Are there any VSTi effects that people would really like to have that are either not available or too costly to afford?

To clear things up: are you talking about VST-effects or VSTi (-instruments)? Because there's no such thing as vsti-effects.           http://www.soundcloud.com/bandarlog

so the answer is

vst effects?????

i think there are more than enough fx plugs to make the weirdest psy music, so many in fact the problem is really picking the right onez and learning them inside out. what the world doesnt need is another glitch like plugin.

a virus or andromeda native vst instrument would be nicer!! but maybe thats too much to ask... i would buy them though..           www.soundcloud.com/elektroakustica/sets/downtempo/

hehe, an Andromeda wouldn't actually be the hardest thing to do

basically its a two osc synth the oscs are based on moog 921b oscs (modular) and the filters are 1 slot of 12dB of Oberheim(? Can't remember, somthing like this) LP, BP, HP, Notch filters and the other filter is a 24db Moog ladder filter.

And GMedia have already shown just how well the Moogy bits can be done with the Minimonsta.

After that its relatively standard connections... however, I've had the chance to use one, and doing a good emulation of an Andromeda is an altogether different thing. Of all the Moog filter emulations I've heard on VSTi's very, very few come off as good (not the same as accurate - I've never used a moog, couldn't comment on that) - and the ones that are stick out like sore thumbs.

Emulation of a Virus is emminently possible.

To go on the glitch idea: I once had a little sampler (yamaha su200) with a very cool function: it took parts of the sample and placed it in a random order. You could elaborate on that idea to make really cool things on the fly!

Like: let's say the sample is 5 seconds, bpm is fixed or determined. The vst could take 2x 1/16th of the sound after the first beat and place it on the 3th beat. Or place the first 1/4th in reverse somewhere else. the possibilities are endless and it owuld be a cool way to mash up breaks quickly! Offcourse you can do this in ableton or any other sequencer but it's more timeconsuming.

---4 channel glitch (so u can layer up to 4 fx at once) (with reverb!)

---multi fx's with endless magic presets are hot stuff i reken

maybe some nice chain like this

*Filter (4 filters with lfo and sync matrix)
*phaser / wahwah
*flanger / chorus
*distortion/gain
*bitcrusher / ring modulator
*delay (several types maybe even 2 slots , sync must)
*reverb

all summed into one big matrix so u can route whatever filter to whatever next...

hmmm as it happens, I have something *very* similar to that in the pipeline Elad.

Only with an XY controller and macro knobs ala Massive.

Haven't put in a reverb though... Reverbs are hard.

@Speakafreaka: Chopper is often underrated! And remember to improve yours killers apps(psykick 1&2)! Everyone should use those plugz!

@cryptowave: Maybe is a good idea (or just my wish) to see -another- VSTi with a lot of patches focused in psytrance, clearly divided by banks (lead, bass, pad, fx), and with an huge FX section. Yep, it's not so original... but i am waiting it!           http://soundcloud.com/alphadelphi
