yeah, most people switch it off after 30 seconds and don't go back because its just so damn unintuitive.

After an hour though... things start to make a whole load more sense.

And then you notice the randomise button. Which is the best randomise button ever. Especially for atmosphere.           .

Hmmm... I've had Tera for aaaaages but never got much mileage out of it. Sounds like I should give it another look.           Mastering - http://mastering.OOOD.net :: www.is.gd/mastering

Which Tera have you got?

I've used Tera 3 and 2, 3 is really considerably better IMO           .

i have explored only the analog tera and the filters sound so good ! i think Cube must be very good for athmosphere with all the morphing stuff and their new one too, poseidon or something like that.try zebra 2 demo and massive too , try using only noise generators and some modulation with lot of fx and verb , you can make some very industrial noise and scary athmosphere.

well this wasn't meant to turn into a Virsyn love in, but if you are prepared to work with the synths and learn them they sound incredible.

They have annoying habits though, like stealing keypresses... BOO.           .

FM8 (or Waldorf XT) pads into a channel containing a lot of spectral/granular plugins AND convolutional reverbs (and tons of crazy impulse reverbs).
Soundhack tools, GRM tools, Cycling'74 tools (Hipno, Pluggo, Tritone etc.), Voxengo Pristine, SpectrumWornx, Reaktor with granular sampling and 2XT instruments.
Prime atmosphere!

My favorites are Native Instruments Absynth and the super flakey Hartmann NeuronVS.
