superglue,
you say: "there is no synth programmer that can produce natural bass from his digital synth without using high quality audio samples "

I really don't understand what the fuss is about synthesizing basslines. Any basic monosynth will work. ANY. Just take any sawtooth wave, short amp envelope, short filter envelope, adjust the filter cutoff to your liking, and voila. You have a basic bass sound. Oh yeah, and about EQ. Remember that a synthetic waveform is perfectly harmonic. So.. If your bassline is centered around a 70Hz note, there's no point in looking for frequencies outside of the 70x (where x = N). There won't be any. You can remove the fundamental (that is, high pass it out) and your ear will still probably hear that note. Our ears compensate for this naturally, the same way we hear bass notes on a piano. After that, you can boost/cut any partial you damn well please. So in this case we have a choice of 70Hz, 140Hz, 210Hz, 280Hz, 350Hz, 420Hz, 490Hz, etc.. Listen! Every note which isn't a sine wave is actually a chord.

i think that any vsti with syncable oscilators and reasonable envelopes can be used for good basslines.
