There's a built in Distortion VST in SX. I really like it.           Everyone in the world is doing something without me

hehe yeah completely:
Try searching on this forum for Formant Filter

Pop stream's leads can be pretty spectacular - i recon that u can probably do something similar with vst's (i'm a big software believer) just experiment and you'll eventually find something that sounds similar and amazing!

kjaerhus audio classic auto-filter. it's freeware and it sounds great!! really cool sound in self-oscillation, lot's of tweakability... But if u want distortion i'd go for the ohmforce predatohm (saturation emulator) or reason's scream (distortion modeller) instead of a filter... there's lot's of freeware distortion too, the 2 guitar pedal models from antti on smartelectronix, the dfx geometer from smartelectronix, ... Possibilities are endless

PSP Nitro is great for filtering! But it is much more then just a filter. It has delays, phasers etc which also has lfo's which can modulate the parameters. Tiny program with lots of sub menus but once you get in, it's hard to get out
