It should work like that..
make an automation with the tbk over a specific midi region..then select the region ..right click..midi..and list editor..there you should find the played notes and the used controllers..

Go to device setup..generic control..add new controler in the upper side/then select it..move your poti..click learn..go down to the new CC..select mixer..select the track where the tbk is inserted..search for insert filter frequency..apply..ok..done
