Volunteer Work in South Africa

Hello~ people in southern hemisphere~
I have just finished undergraduate study at uni and now taking a gap yr.
So I m planning to come and work as a volunteer in south africa from january next yr for about 8 monthes. Hopely to take care of under previliged children.
I have not decided which city to work in, but it would be a bonus to work where there's a good party scene and generally a warm atmosphere and people.
I really dont know much about south africa and it would be much appreciated if you guys can enlighten me with some information about some cities in south africa. I know cape town seems like a obvious one but I ve been living in london for past 3 yrs and i wouldnt mind living in a nice medium sized town. But I really dont know enough to make any decision yet.
Also if you guys know any south african based, non-profit organisation that promotes volunteers, please tell me! I ve been searching the net for voluteer work and most of them seems like they are trying to make money out of volunteers!!!
Anyway really looking forward coming to south africa!~ |

i think cape town has not big and crazy parties always, last year i was there and the bigger party that i went was there 1000 people , maybe during the summer it gets bigger , for us brazilians comparing with today situation thousand people could be a private party here , sorry about my english ! |

your best bet would be cape town.
there are lots of organisations that work with under privalaged children that are sitauted in or around cape town. (i dont think you would have a problem joining one of them when you are here, they are always keen to have volunteers) we also have more parties which are bigger aswell. |

If you want to attend a lot of parties and live in a smaller city than Cape Town, check out Stellenbosch. |
