Hi !
Anyone who can recommend advices on how i can find the right volume for the kick.
Is there a certain rules you could make it easier to found the right volume for the kick.Lately i´ve been listening to the "subbassarea" of the bass and placed the kick there.
Another way, could it be suitable to have the same energy (volume) in the kick as is in the bass ?
Thankful for any help

i reken somewhere between -12db to -8db will do the job.
try to make the kick and bass sound in same volume but without looking on the meters too much.. sometimes it meens the kick is higher sometime the bass..
imo this kind of volume structure will produce exacly the mix i like - very hot but never about -2db peak..

by default i put it at -9db ... and as the track progreses i usually pull down the kick so it can fit better in the mix ... and usualy end up somewhere around -12db.           www.psilocybian.com / www.facebook.com/psilocybian

dBFS? heh
Anyway, i try to think of the kick and bass as one element, for me that makes it easier to find the sweetspot, maybe its just me.

flac usaully there is wide q dip @500hz to make room for most other sounds.

the other sounds are spread across the spectrum they should sit around the kick not on it

and what do you you do when you then need to balance all the other sounds in your track with this kick?
