I have notice, some tracks coming out of the sequencers and having peek volume just above -3db -4db... And this made me wonder cause I was always trying to export my track as a wave always close to -1 to 0db...

So what do u say...?? Is it right for the volume to be a bit lower, to give the chance to the engineers to pumb it up a bit, or...??

Thanx

If you're working with 24 bit, you can have it as low as -10db and it will still sound better than normalized 16bit.
But generally, try to keep it as high as possible.

Thanx Mike... Now that u have mentioned normilizing, a friend of mine, very good producer (no need to mention name) told me that normilizing is not good for a track, and I used to normilize my tracks and lately i havent... I know that there might be several topics about normilizing, but just give me your position on this...

Good or bad...?? Usually i was normilizing my wave file and then just add compressor, some stereo exp. and that was it, the rest is for the sound masters...

why do you need normalizing anyway?
I never apply that on a whole track...

normally the track should have peaks at just below 0
besides, normalizing at peak point is just like changing gain.
Making it louder at mixing stage is preffered.           Crackling universes dive into their own neverending crackle...

Use Ultramaximizer instead of normalizing- Waves L2 is nice and simple,           Space is the place

Bad. Leave all for sound masters.

Anyone using Waves L3?

I read about it and they say it is completly new concept. It uses multiband normalising.            Signature
