It is clear by the replies here that this name is aggressive to a lot of people.
I think this name is not appropriated, and suggest the artist should change it.
If he don't, I'm afraid we won't let him promote himself here, not only because we are 150% against what the word "VolkerMord" means, but also because every thread involving this artist will end up in a discussion about his artist name and the meaning of it, just like it happened here and it spreads a very bad vibe.

meh .. what a lot of fuss .. wats in a name ppl ? now i dont know him personally but im pretty damn certain that he didnt really know what it meant at the time of deciding to call himself that .. relax .. why so touchy ?

If you named a new musical project "Kill The Jews", what do you think the response would be? Especially here? You DO understand, in the context of when the term was coined, this is essentially the exact translation of this word?
These sorts of cheap shock tactics is the essence of what gives the darkpsy scene a bad name and turns off people that might otherwise like the music. It has nothing to do with the true dark, primal psychedelic spirit of night time music... this is just stupid, ignorant teenagers having a competition to see who can be the most "hardcore".
Obviously this Indian teenager is not an actual Nazi or whatever, he's just doing whatever he can to offend as many people as possible to get people to pay attention to him. Ignorant, childish posturing.

Out of everyone here, who has spoken against the name 'VolkerMord'...how many of you have actually heard his music???
After all this is a DJs & Artists forum no? Not a political forum. We want to use this space to talk about Tilak's sounds and his styles of psychedelic WHICH are really promising!
Besides, if you read the first few posts, Volkermord is ONE of his many projects he has, and he himself has said he is going to be producing under the name Phrike.
so calm yourselves, and let the man make his music. Listen to his styles first and then discuss the ideas you think are behind the project.
and please could we get back to discussing MUSIC and not politics/history??

I haven't and it is largely irrelevant.. or.. I would say, you DO understand that the better his music is the more important the name becomes. If his music sucks and nobody will listen to it, then it isn't as important. We're actually trying to help here, because this name will ONLY land him in trouble. I even pointed out in an earlier post that most people will hear an artist's name before they hear the music...

See above + I think its perfectly ok to discuss the name choice of an artist as it is the name under which he/she markets the music.

As far as I understood Phrike is his main at the moment, but that is a collaborastion project, Volkermord is his solo one.

I think most people are pretty calm  and nobody's going to stop him from making his music, we're merely saying that it would be beneficial for everybody (especially him) if he changed name. Read full_on and Meta's posts...
Everyone who's defending volkermord seems to think this is an attack on tilak...
Let me say that even if it was my best best friend making super-killer music I'd still insist he'd change it. I wish tilak all success as an artist, you must realize this is not about him as a person, although of course, if he sticks with it I think it says something about him as a person. I rest my case.

Ok heres what i think , even though i know tilak personally and hes absolutely swell ! i have to agree with inner demon and others.You dont want people relating your music to sad gruesome tragedies like that.Theres nuthing cool about it , would be like calling yourself jihad on america !! haha or wateva
Mistakes happen and we shud learn from em , and no one is attacking tilak here , just the name people are strongly objecting to , so if its such a sensitive issue , we shud forget about the name volkermord and delete it from our memories !
I think tilak said hes gonna be sticking on to the phrike project name for now ! good on ya mate ,
keep working on your music !
I just thought it was a very valid arguement and shud definitly be taken into consideration.No one here bashing tilak.Just helping each other evolve in a better direction:).
