Voice of Cod - Gone Fission

Voice of Cod, the collabration of trance veterans OOOD of the UK and Australian Andrew Humphries, took the world by storm recently with theirhit shaker of an album, We Are Free. Now they are back with their latest work, "Gone Fission". Their second album displays the signature mastery and musical humor and playfulness that these two acts have come to be known for over the years, and each of these nine tracks represents an untold wealth of musical enthusiasm, experience, and innovation which exemplifies the greatest virtues of a musical movement which these producers have helped forge from its very beginnings.

Scramble

This introductory track eases you into the musical environment with the grace of a well-mannered gentleman. Thick, concussive bass and smooth synth melodies fill you ear canals with rich sonic goodness with the air of masterfully building progression throughout, hallmarked by a funky breakbeat rearrangement.

Movember

Airy atmospheric layers of pads drift throughout the sounscape like cirrus clouds, providing high ceilings for a foundation of palpable catchy bassbeats and percussion. Glassy effects and meaty power chords propel you through the story. Ever-intensifyng leads and fresh sounds throughout keep things new while binding this whole piece together.

Compound Sound

The unique talent and styles of OOOD and Humphries are apparent as ever here. Bass as bouncy as a trampoline flings you about and ricochets you between panoramic walls of think yet clear synth rhythms. Dissonant drums and burbling bass leads clash together to ramp up the tension before each soothingly dance-worthy release.

Chunkenstein

A perfect piece for later on in the night, Chunkenstein greets you with liquid digital dribblings and ethereal pads and sweeps great for inducing dancefloor transit. True to its name, the bass is rolling and hilly and ever-cascading and each layer rich, warm and intelligently introduced. A variety of moods are laid out within the space of this delightful composition.

To Err Is Hunam

This epic odyssey of an outdoor track is a built-to-win instant classic from the very get-go. Prepare for immersive saturations of meaty bass and synth washes emanating from your speakers. Well layered delays add spaciousness while synth leads add hints of secret-agent style subtlety adding one-of-a-kind flavor to your normal dance routines.

A Little Bit of Tenderness

In pleasantly funky synchronization with the rest of the tracklist, this arrangement lends refreshing respite from the tension-building energy of the album and massages your muscles and neurons in all the right places. Modest digital percolations add otherworldliness to humanistic vox leads and oscillating attack-heavy arpeggios.

C.P.R.

The doctors are in! After a bit of a breather, Voice of Cod launches you straight back into the mix with an uptempo, high-energy stomper. The bass is rolling like a choo-choo train and psychedelic pixies sprinkle binary magic dust about. Tension-twisting pads convey the dancer like a genie carpet towards jungles of twilight acid synths which stuff you straight into the groove.

The Key

Percussive tribalism is the name of this game and spells out the mod for the rest of the arrangement. Elements of retro synthesis bumps bottoms with in-your-face basslines. Glitchy vocal manipulations decorate this soundscape's horizon as the music causes you loss of ground contact as your feet dance the rest of you towards the stars.

My A: Drive

Questions regarding the euphemistic meaning of this track's name aside, this finale track to Voice of Cod's latest musical collection leads you out with quite a bang. Highly experimental and fresh through multiple listenings, "A: Drive" manages to cram a buffet of moods and sonic textures into a moment-warping seven and a half minutes seamlessly and without flaw.

Awesome CD!

Pure warm melodic vibes through the whole album. Some kinda similar to "Vatos Locos - Attack And Release". The basslines are varied and pounding as hell. The tracks never get booring, because there's so much going on and there are no booring Full On build-ups or breakdowns. The mood is changing from happy to melancholic with the help of beatiful melodies.

Perfect music when you're dancing, while the sun is shining in your face (-:
