It sounds like it is pitched up and time stretched with a big delay on it. Sounds a bit like what you can do with the time mode in Kontakt.

if you are looking for helium and micky mouse type of effects then maybe you should look for a frequency shifter (not a pitch shifter)

frequency shifters shift lineary and usually use a ring modulator at the core.
pitch shifters shift logarithmically.

logic pro 7 includes a plug that can do frequency shifting.

also i've done it on the nord modular.

not sure what else is out there but it is a very old effect so there must be more than those 2 ways of getting it.

you can actually get good results with a ring modulator and a steep hipass filter.

modern pitch n time stretching software have a similar effect but sound distinctly different.

i havent heared the track you mean so i cannot say which process they used.

but its worth invesigating both techniques.

I haven't heard the track, or paid particular attention to that bit at least, but what i recon is this..
Basically use something like the NN19 in reason to load a vocal track, then transpose it by a couple of tones... the voice will become higher and faster (like increasing the speed of an LP on a turntable), if you then take the faster vocal and time stretch it back to the normal speed you will get a higher pitched (odd sounding) voice...
Filters also work wonders on voices... but basically i hope that that is what you mean.

Peace

Nice post Setfan! I was on my holiday road trip listening to a killer DJ mix by Andrew Humphries which has that track in it. Anyway I have been getting into Bill Hicks a lot lately and I was telling my lady to listen to that Eskimo tune and she says to me "why can't you do that?" I said to her "I am not that good." Anyway it was exactly what you are asking about. If you learn how to do that PM me! Eskimo makes amazing music, mad respect to him! Anyway here is the tracklist for the Andrew Humphries mix and a link below. The mix is at the bottom of the webpage I highly recommend it! Voice of Cod is wicked, mad respect! anyone feel like posting a clip?

I don't own the CD, and the sample on saikosounds doesn't seem to start that early in the track.

I wanna try to figure it out too!
