what can you guys recommend me to use for voice tweaking and distortion?
apart from vocoders. and if only vocoders then which ones you recommend of?

also u can use phasers, flangers, analog distortion, choppers, LFO's etc. any effect is applicable. just don't forget to EQ

anything that provides modulation of some kind ie. autopans, filters (hp or bp) with LFO's modulating the cutoff, flangers & phasers.
one of my favorites is Waves enigma. I don't know how to really describe it but it's kinda like a phaser using comb filters & delays & panning but it really makes sounds move. My other favorite is bitcrusher in logic. u could use another vst plugin that allows u to do downsampling & bit reduction. |

to have that sound in classical mushroom you should get a granulizer and play with it some.

you mean gating? chop the sounds in sound forge and simply play them as short sounds on the piano roll.
