People are going to tell you to drop the vocals because those "don't belong" in a psy track. I will tell you the same thing but for a different reason. Your track is not a psy track, but it is a decent piece of club music nonetheless. Vocals would work there nicely, but the particular vocals you use are just not good (to my ears at least). I don't like her voice and how she does not quite hit some notes, that's all. It does not fit well with the rest of your track, imo. Not because it's "a voice in a psy track", though.

I agree. Although good work.
There is not much to tell here.
Vocal here is rather dedicated for progressive trance production (dont know if someone like posford could cut/modulate such voice to make it more fit to the style ).
Apart from this try to work more with dynamics and space - sounds a little bit mono. Also change hi drums - will give a more 'kick'.

wtf who's all saying kill the vocals?!??
if this is your thing, keep em! her voice ain't bad at all, however, i do think that they would do well with a LOT more processing... some reverse 'verb here and there, a lot of reverb everywhere else, definitely some delay, some stretchy effects in breaks........

for me its sounds not at all like psy. more like eurotrance atmosphere. can also be a style if you like it.

rofl, to the people saying not psy - i guarantee i could play this at one minute in and run it for until you hear the words, and you would say "that's some fuckin' solid old school turn of the millennium psytrance, there!"
- oh wait, of course. the people who think all psy is dark twisted shit - got nothing in principal against the twisted shit here - will bitch.
...screw 'em.
seriously, gr8ape, finish this tune up. i, for one, who am really bored with a lot of run-of-the-mill trance today, would happily hear where it's going.
dissing this for the vocals is pathetic and unbefitting any who would call themselves an artist or musician. most of my core festival-going social group are musicians and djs, and only the dirty, grimy, hit-on-the-17-year-old-druggie-chicks-and-act-like-superstar-djs out of them would be bitching about "eurotrance" or whatever. the ones who actually dance with smiles on their face, who aren't afraid to make music that's creative or genre bending, who care more about a sick melody and tasty sound than what people think, would say this is pretty cool and worth touching up.
p.s. actually, i quite like her vocals. just seriously - process it. i don't think you need to re-record - manually edit the audio in a couple small spots where her note is a few cents off or a little off timing. quantize it even - i would normally never quantize vocals, but it's not a bad idea in trance like this.
i don't have experience working with vocals in EDM, so take my advice with that in mind - but this is very interesting stuff. please - drench her voice in some delay in some parts, say the end of a verse, keep a light echo on others, make her sound a bit farther away with some reverb... also, for example, the high-notes at 2:55 you could automate some bit crush decimation and totally rip her last note apart. but repost it when you're done and pm me. and/or, glitch the tail end of certain words ("satisfi-i-i-i-iii-i-i-i-i-iiiii-ii-iii-i-i-i-ed" for example) to emphasize them.
I think that if you really worked on minute details like that on the vocals themselves, you could make this truly excellent. the music that backs it all is stellar.
also, unrelated to the vocals: some more bite to the hihats, and that video-game sounding lead at the end? i think if you made it pizzicato strings (with the background pad as bowed strings) instead you would go up 10 points in classy. think shpongle's around the world in a tea daze.
fuck y'all if you hate on creativity. you're killing something beautiful and go fuck yourselves.

ps, gr8ape, your other tunes are pretty chill, you have a lovely stroke of creativity i enjoy. and the stereo field in world of lies is pretty just engrossing at some points - intro, and drums all the way through. you've got a favourite on soundcloud - i go by MixyOtt and will definitely be looking for further shit from ye.

I love edm in general but like you say theres alot of "themes" and general formulas (current dark psy trends for one...) and we (this is with a friend of mine) try to add some unexpected elements and be more progressive in general...
