What do you think is the best way to get that percussive vocal sliced sound like in:
Exaile - Safe Mode
Astrix - Life system (3:31 into track)
and in many other psy tracks
hope you understand what i mean 
Sounds like different vocal cuts put into rhythm, i've tried chopping and changing Rex loops but i can never get the same effect...

use an audio file and cut pices out! or use the chopper effect for example° |

hmm i've tried using chopper/gate effects and just slicing different bits out... but as i said before i don't know what sorts of bits to cut out and how to mix them so they sound good...

it takes some imagination. Try to slice in 1/16th quantize and then move around at 1/32nds quantize. Gives you cool stutter like effects. Also if you use Reason (I rewire it into Cubase), a great trick is to do the following: Load a Wav into an NN-19. Hook up a Matrix's Gate CV to the NN-19's Amp. Then draw all types of different patterns into th Matrix. Then randomly automate dif pattern stuff. You will get the coolest stutter fx ever for vocals. |

best way is to cut it your self in cubase or soundforge wave editor.

Cheers for the advice!
I think i managed to get a good sound, i cut consonant and vowel sounds out to make an interesting combination, moved it around in one audio track so it alllmooost sounded like somebody saying "I psy aah, ka psy aah, i psy ka deeeeeeeh" etc haha
I then added a highpass and abit of compression/de-essing and I think it sounds quite good I posted the track with it in in the 'new tracks' forum. The link if you want to hear though is:

give scuzzphut (free vst) a go for this - its fantastic for chopping up vocals/pads etc..

you can do this more easy with the "motu machfive sampler" just create a new bank and drag the audio file to ond of the piano key's in it then you wikk see the audio on the screen of the plug and there you can cut loop's , arrange it as like as you want and so and so.......... |

fruity loops is nice plaing with it just slice the thing u want in wave editor and then put every single slice in different sampler channel in fuity and starting dawing and moving till sounds good to u
u can try a lot of patterns because fruity is much easoier to play with |
