32Bit is the major turn off for RAM, isn't it?

Doesn't matter if XP or Vista.

Anyways your Sequenzer (Cubase etc) needs to make use of the Ram in the first place. Cubase 5 just started to do that, but before that it doesn't.. don't know with other soft           Most of my music for you to download at:

my problem is i wanted more ram, came from 2 gig and didn't think it was enough. My new pc has 6 GB ram, so it would be stupid to just use 4 of it, right?

first i tought of taking xp 64 bit, but changed my mind because of the lack of drivers...

I'm now gonna try vista 64 bit, and made a deal with the shop that i don't have to pay the vista and can use it till windows 7 is out....

seemed fair to me, aldo i don't like the idea of using vista... (planning to strip down vista allot. bye bye aero, dreamscene and other ram-eating bullshit)

we'll see.

peace

my old lap has only 1gb and can hold things tight. I think 3gb of ram is more than enought, principally if your lap ins only for audio use, msn or net in the maximum           ``We shall not cease from exploration - And the end of all our exploring - Will be to arrive where we started - And know the place for the first time.``

Out of 4 gigs installed you can use aprox, 3.5 Gigs and i you get less out of 3.5 gigs IF you use Vista compared to XP, Fact!           Demand recognition for the Armenian genocide 1915

Vista runs fast on a system with enough RAM but still slower than that same system running XP. Add on the shitty driver support for devices older than from 2008 and it's just a huge pain.

Yeah you can use all your RAM in Vista but 32-bit applications can still only address 2GB of RAM and you'll find the large majority of the software you use is probably 32 bit. So you're basically giving Vista some extra RAM (guess you can load a couple hundred more gadgets now...fun!) and the ability to have more apps open before they choke since you have more system memory available. But I have no problems downloading something, having 40 tabs open, working on a song, and ripping/burning a dvd with 4 gigs so I can't imagine why most people would need any more.

I'd wait for Windows 7 and pray it's not a piece of crap because there's no compelling reason to switch atm for most people.

I tried Vista (for the third time) for a few months when I built my Quad Core system with 4GB of RAM thinking that maybe I'll stick with it this time. Had some doubts a few months later and gave XP a try and it was like night and day. You won't notice the 750mb of ram or so you're not using if you have 4GB. If you have more than 4GB, there might be a reason to go with Vista...IF you know you'll benefit from it; chances are you won't.

Windows 7 beta is running faster than XP and hasn't crashed once in 3 weeks of heavy use here... Just for some pre-info for those hoping that windows 7 will be better.           ~Airyck~

I have been on both tiny xp and win7 for 2 days now. My tiny xp hasn't had as much as a hickup.
ATM i'm using a recovery cd to save my harddrive after the other pc met win7...           www.xun.dk / myspace.com/xundk
