The second release from Seb Krüger's Avalanche label is a strong one from up & comers Vision & Canedy. They turned many heads with their previous outing on Plus Quam, and their follow-up is definitely no disappointment. Strength in simplicity is the common thread here in two very different, yet equally impressive progressive numbers.

A. Balanced - Straight groovin' the whole way through. Head-nodding percussion combines with one hell of a big funky bassline for a nice uplifting trippy tech-house piece. The track doesn't develop so much throughout, but is much more fitting to fall heavily in the mix, adding a bit of spice.

B. No Parlez - Tekky percussion and a slow, plodding bassline get things started. More percussion, samples, atmospheres, and synth sounds are added as the track gradually builds in intensity. Smoothly, the track breaks and reaches its dark psychedelic climax. Subtly creepy, yet still simple in its execution. This track shows a great level of maturity in structure....a maximal effect is achieved while still maintaining a simple structure and feel. Not minimal, yet no extraneous elements whatsoever. Everything works with everything else in the track. Every synth sound, drum line, or sample, belongs and fits perfectly.

Final Verdict: 8/10

"Balanced" is a strong and absolutely playable track, but really needs the touch of a DJ for full effectivity. "No Parlez" is the big winner here.

Eagerly awaiting more from these guys!
