The beta has been up on the site for a few weeks now. I'm waiting until it's fully tested before I install it, though. I'm not running a 64 bit system right now anyway. I was too impatient during beta testing for OS 3 and the beta bugs sucked so I don't see any reason to rush and install this one just yet.

Seems you like have been hanging around Kvraudio for too long:-)
Just everyone on there loves to point out how great of a synth Zebra is and how much they don't need an expensive Virus synth anymore.

But I'm not so sure if Zebra really could replace my Virus.

well..the new filter models and just the simple amount how many different filters there are just rock..

then the whole mseg modulation thing is just great..

many types of different envelopes, and the arp is able to even do changes in pitch wich is a big lack in the Virus..

and i could go further..in the end i get things done way more faster and with more fun to do..so the decision was easy for me..combined with uhbik its all i need..

just use another eq, the sonnox and inflator and cubase vintage compressor for sidechain..bazzism and thats all i used in the last 6 tracks..its enough to concentrate on and i see no limits right now..

sorry for little offtopic..

cheers           -------......-------...-..-..-..-.-.-.-.-

What do you mean about the arp? On my virus, my arp does pitch changes.

Hey Axis,

please show me where you do pitch changes for each single step for example..

well the global octave range where you can choose up/down etc..

but i mean for a single step a precise pitch change by semitones f.e...

all i see is velocity and note lengh wich can be edited..

http://www.sendspace.com/file/l93be2

here in zebra you got a dedicated transpose line wich goes for one octave..

i know the Ti got great features but at least for me it was not worth the money anymore..

OK I'm following you now. You're talking about custom arpeggiators.

There are ways to do that with the TI but they involve some pretty advanced synthesis techniques which usually involve precise automation or modulations from other source parameters. Usually I don't bother with it.

I usually just handle pitch changes within the MIDI channel myself or use envelope, lfo, etc. based pitch/transpose modulation. So I never needed to create a custom arp using arp note-based pitch changes. In your case it wouldn't have helped since what you want to do is for example make an arp that would play note (x), (x+/-y), (x+/-z) and so on, every time you played a note.

I can see where what you want would come in handy, but I use certain scales in my arrangements so having an arp that did that in the patch itself would just end up playing off-key notes occasionally in certain circumstances.

I just realized that one easy way to achieve what you wanted to with the Virus TI is to set up your custom arpeggio the way you want it in the arp editor, then in the patch matrix, route the velocity to the oscillator pitch and put it at +63. Then set the velocity of each arpeggio step to 63 and adjust the velocity of each of the steps in the arpeggio to suit. Every +1/-1 velocity points you assign will increase the pitch of the oscillator by +1/-1 semitones. This will give you arpeggios with predictable upwards- or downwards-scaling notes.

Note: You may have to adjust the transpose of the patch by a few octaves accordingly.

Note: The arpeggios you make this way are saved per patch, but there is an easy workaround to apply arpeggios to other patches. Simply lock all the functions in the arpeggio section of the VC and select other patches from the patch library. All the presets will switch to the new patch but the arpeggio pattern will remain the same.

I haven't actually tried this yet, but I'm sure it would be a cool effect.

well..sounds pretty difficult to me actualy..

sure you might got the way done but its fairly easy to do tis with a simple transpose line actualy in the arp..

whatever..that was not the only reason why i skipped the thing..i jist don`t see the sound improvement compared to a 150€ soft snth..thats almost all i thought about..

if i actualy had no problems with money etc..then i would have never thought of selling my TI..thats for sure..           -------......-------...-..-..-..-.-.-.-.-

I'm not trying to tell you what you should or shouldn't have done.

I'm a gear head so I think about gear out loud sometimes.

Just installed Windows 7 with 8Gb of ram...
Will report soon when all VSTs will be installed.
The only problem for the moment is that my Esi keycontrol25 isn't 64bit compatible (usb controller).
VirusTI is working fine for the moment (tested for 5 minutes only;)...
