The TI and the TI2 can use the same new synth features. The main difference is that the TI2 has actual physical knobs for those features, and is a bit lighter and more efficient at processing sound.

so you might as well go for the TI 1 really. Or is it that much more efficient that is it worth the extra hunderds?
thnx for the quick reply btw =) |

Honestly my best personal recommendation is to go for the Polar, or the Snow or Desktop and a decent MIDI controller. Depending on how much you travel. Leave the 61-key alone. If you can get a new TI 1 cheaper than a new TI 2, go for it. I recently sold my 61 key TI 1 and directly bought a Snow and a nice controller. I would have gotten a Polar TI 2 if I had the money, but I have no regrets for what I did go with. I do everything with the Snow that I did with the TI 1 and I feel like I have a lot more diversity with the controller. Plus my setup is a lot more portable, and more modular, which is how I like to have my gear anyway, so I can change it out with other gear to achieve different results.
And, no problem I check this thread more often than I care to admit

I was thinking of getting the TI 2 desktop. don't care much for the keys. I might be able to find the TI 1 cheaper second hand than the TI2 for the 1700 euro's it goes by in Europe. I do have some cash at the moment. So I am tempted to buy the best i can. But the TI1 might be just as good. |

For the record, I had a LOT of problems on my TI1 with the OS 3.X. To the point where it was impossible to work. I never had those problems with the Snow and I suspect the TI2 versions are the same way.
Of course that was back when OS 3 was still in beta. I sold my TI1 before the final OS3 release came out so I never got to test that. So if you can get a hold of a TI1 my suggestion would be to research well and try to correspond directly with TI1 owners who use OS 3. (OS 3 is the software OS that utilizes the new TI2 features.)

Sorry, I should have clarified. You do that in the common section of the Virus Control vsti, not Cubase.
If you see VTI1, VTI2 and VTI3 in your mixer in Cubase than it does.

I did this already within Viruscontrol, and then Cubase popped up with that error message that this setup of 3 outputs isn't allowed by Cubase. |

Just got a desktop TI =)
Installation was easy and so far it seems to be working just fine!
Only a little confused by the different RAM and ROM memories.. But i am sure that will clear up in no time. |

I just got a desktop 2 days ago aswell....havin alotta fun with it at the moment...made a nice phat goa bass using a stack of detuned supersaws ...im happy they switched to this white lcd...as i found the old red ones were really hard to see....im actually finding making sounds on this thing to be pretty easy..barely find the need to use the software interface...only thing left to figure out is the mod matrix
but i am also confused between rom and ram.....im currently on a track and have 5 separate parts running....can someone please tell me is there anyway to save all these parts as one preset?? Or do I have to save them all seperately and recall them one by one when i re-open my session(which would suck)??? and do i save on ram or rom??? I dont want my patches mixing with other presets...so many fucking presets i really want to just delete them all...the ones ie gone through have been quite aweful!

it should save the preset when you save your project. The same as with any software. Not sure about the ram and rom either... |

RAM basically means that's where you save your custom presets. You can drag presets from the ROM into spots in the RAM by clicking and dragging. So if you're creating a custom RAM bank for say a liveset, keep the bottom window open to ROM banks and the top to RAM banks and you can click and drag to save them up top. You can also click and drag the names from the active parts the RAM bank so saving your cool sounds takes a second and is highly recommended to do.
This is assuming you use the Virus Control, though, because not using VC to save presets makes it a lot more of a pain.
When you're working in a DAW such as Cubase and you save the project and restart, it saves all preset information plus your knob positions you've made since selecting the preset within the project file, meaning if you forget to save the preset in VC before going to bed, you can jump right back to it in the morning.
I really can't emphasize saving your sounds enough, it both takes a second to do and is very useful in the long run, especially if you plan on using your Virus in live sessions. The RAM banks (where you save presets to) are considered the first banks relating to MIDI so it's that much easier to program bank and program select messages on the fly in, say, Ableton Live.

No problem.
By the way, Willowwisp, 30300 is considered the latest alpha version.
