no battle for me,
but i would go for virus ti for that price...
much more modulation options, very good sound and drivers are much better at the present time.
i have a desktop ti and i`m very satisfied with it.
best is to try both of these and than choose what suits you better....
just my opinion though

no experience on that but i think you'll get replies depending on tastes. different sound, different method, different synth. but both are extremely good... try talking to you favorite artists, your influences, and ask their opinion. and obviously try both of them |

or you could just get a used virus b and nord lead 2 for the same price as the nord lead 3 new, and 3 other used synths for the TI price. |

Haven't tried the TI, but I have a Nord Lead and a Virus and if I was forced to get ride of one of them I'd probably get rid of the Virus. The Virus has more impact out of the box and does a lot of cool stuff and all, but I find overall the stuff I make with the Nord generally just "fits" better, where are with the Virus I tend to throw out about 50% of the parts I make with it. That said, I definately have no plans on getting rid of either and love them both to death.

If the total integration of audio, MIDI, controller and VST/host sequencer aspects between PC and Hardware synth are important for you, the Virus TI (TI means Total Integration, you got it?) is what you looking for. The sound is the same like Virus C, with some features added, like REAL Wavetables synthesis and the Hipersaw waveform (something like Supewrsaw found on JP80x0). In fact, about the Wavetables on Virus TI, Wolfram Franke who's an ex-employee from Waldorf (and you know, the Wavetable Synthesis's father - the man behind PPG and Microwave and who implemented the PPG VST for PC...), is working at Access now, and it was responsible to coordinate the Wavetable Synthesis on Virus TI.
Virus TI is very pricey, and with respect to the sound, you can get the same sound using a Virus C (virtual analog synth) and Waldorf Microwave 2/XT/k (wavetable synth with weird crazy filters) for less money. I'm thinking to buy a Virus C or even a B (more cheaper now). It's better get different synths, cos you get different sounds, but of course, if you think better to buy all-in-one synth, the Virus TI is the only way. However, it still has some bugs, and itl will take some time in order to fix them, but Virus TI will be the better synth ever made by man's hands.
It seems...

Hehehehe I almost forget it...
I would buy a Virus TI instead the Nord Lead 3. But even so, the NL3 is amazing synth with very terrifc sounds. But, sincerelly, the Virus TI, as like any old Virus, has a lot of modulation possibilities and it's a paradise for the sound designer. I really love the Virus sounds, for me, it's the better sound for any kind of eletronic music. |

virus TI is just totally digital machine, nord lead3 have some analogue synthesis i dont know exactly how it goes, it's more analogue...
virus TI have more possibilities to use it than nord3, for example 6 osc with some sub osc in one time gives you very powerful sounding tunes for sure bro.
anyways if someone like more analogue sounds then nord lead is for him.
also i must say that both are great for psy tunes, there is no word to say NO for that thing ;]

Both machines are pure digital, they just sound different...
I never heard the new Virus...so i can't tell which one is better...
But when comparing to the old Virus, I prefer the Nord sound... |
