I love my Snow... my first Virus was the TI 61-key which was great for a studio but once I got to learn it, getting the snow was a superb idea. I use it at home and in my live sets and also as a sound card. Going through menus is a breeze, taking only a few button clicks... also great for a live performance scenario.Paired with a good MIDI controller, I can even make sounds using techniques I could not do on the big keyboard through clever MIDI routing. For the money I'd recommend getting one... it's a powerful synth that's also a sound card for less price than you'd get for the pieces seperately.

The main downside is (I believe) you need a good MIDI controller keyboard to make the most of it and you can't really do much with it by itself -- you need "something" to plug into it. (As apposed to a full keyboard or something that you can play as a standalone instrument).

The TI and the TI Snow use the exact same sound engine. The full TI adds more DSP to your rig than the Snow and uses all 16 MIDI channels while the Snow uses only 4. However I find the DSP difference to be negligible personally. However on both TI versions you only have a maximum of 3 outs (USB or analog) anyway so for production I find 4 channels to be plenty.

The TI keyboard and desktop have the full range of knobs right there and of course the keyboard has keys. The Snow only has 3 main knobs as well as cutoff and resonance knobs for its first of two filters. However the Snow has a very streamlined menu system that allows you to access every parameter with ease which is routed to the three main knobs. It doesn't take more than a couple of button pushes to access any parameter and I found the preset menu system to be a lot more simple and streamlined also which is very important when performing live.

The TI Snow can use patch presets from the others, however when I had my full TI and saved my custom presets to a file and then tried to upload them into the Snow, the Snow wouldn't accept them.

However the Snow and the TI Desktop can use all of the preset banks for all of the Virus series that you can download on various sites.

In short, the full keyboard is only worth it if you're strictly a bedroom producer. The desktop is an all around machine, but you need an external controller to play it as a keyboard. The Snow I find ideal if you perform live a lot, but also with a good controller is a perfectly adequate studio synth as well.

However if you have the money to spend on a desktop, you might as well pay the extra to get the TI Polar, and forget about the huge full keyboard. The Snow however is a steal for the thousand euros (or dollars, if you're US) if you ask me.
