I'm having some problems with one of my current projects.
In which it won't load my Virus anymore.
I get this error, 'the audio driver failed to start or is not installed etc....'.
But if I start other projects I have no problems at all.
But what can I try to get it working again in this project?
I've tried removing the Virus from this project, saving it under a different name and then reopening it, to then add the Virus into my project.
That worked fine.
But when I saved it again, including the Virus and reopened the newly renamed project, then again it wouldn't load. |

No idea. Did you check the Virus forum or your daw forum? |

It's weird because it doesn't happen all the time now, but I have found a work around.
Which is loading the project first and I choose not to active it to then activate it manually by pressing that 'Activate
project' button. |

Well that problem and many more, will sometimes come and go and reappear. You will probably see it happen again suddenly. It makes no sense at all and is very annoying, but oh well. The TI makes of for it in awsomeness.

Is it just that one project that does it?
How many USB devices do you have plugged in?
How far along is your project?
Have you tried switching the ASIO drive back to the stock driver and then back to the Virus ASIO driver, and rebooting everything?
Did you accidentally load two instances of the TI into your project?
Is your TI plugged into a USB port other than the one you installed it on?
How much RAM is your machine using?
If you answer these questions, I can help you diagnose your issue.

Try:
1. open the project and then turn off the Virus vst (in Cubase F11). Save the project (Pref. in a new save).
2. Close your whole computer and the turn off the Virus. Wait 30 seconds or so and then turn the virus and the computer on again.
3. open the project and turn the Virus vst. on. There is a good chance it loads now.
???
If not, it will most definately load if you remove the Virus VST and then pick it again. But all settings will of course be gone. You could fix that by saving the sounds to the user preset bank before closing the vst and ofcause mixer settings etc.

I'm starting to get quite irritated with my virus ti. Its constantly clicking and popping. I have OS 3.1 installed. I'm on a macbook pro with leopard 10.5.8. Has ANYONE solved this yet? I tried installing OS 3.3 but the software wouldn't start up in logic 9. It would just say "starting up" but it would never complete the cycle, it would just freeze. |

It happens on more projects, but just very much on this.
I don't have anything else plugged into any USB port, and did not try to load 2 instances of Virus control by accident.
To me it appears to be a memory problem, as it happens much more on quite loaded projects.
I figured that was the case.

It sounds like a RAM issue. I had this problem on my old laptop with little RAM and big projects. Upgrading my RAM solved the problem.
One thing you could try would be to open the project, render all audio using plugins except for whatever uses Virus Control, therefore allowing you to remove those plugins, save the project under a different version name, reboot your PC, then reopen that project. It should load then.
