Virus TI Polar question

So my mate Jordan got a Virus TI Polar for quite cheap (700euros).

The thing is, do I need to install the drivers off the Access site? Its used so there was not install DVD, manual in the box and I really don't want to mess my OSX up installing buggy stuff (internet hear say basically).
I don't mind not running Virus Control, as long as it will record any knob movement if I simply plug in the USB cable?

My studio is still in boxes and will be for the next few days, as I need to sort out the DIY acoustic tiles (bed matresees ) in the new studio, hence the impatient question on here.

P.S. I know I've been dissing the thing for like 7 years sicne I got the Virus B, but I'm sure I can use it for mangled up atmos and effects sounds in teh background.

Peace out.

yes it does need soft from Access´webpage to function (the TI way) if you just want to use it like it´s predecessors you do it the old school way via midi (not sure if midi over usb will work without using the TI soft) when using it in TI mode all cc changes are recorded as automation within logic and not midi msg´s. I only have the tiny snow version so i use the plugin quite a bit for editing, and for the more mundane tweaking it reacts to the same parameter numbers as the older siblings send (i use my A version for that)           Mastering available here:

Nice one thanks.
The helpful chaps over at psymusic helped out in more detail...so for other people reading this thread and using OSX, apparently, you need to install the latest drivers off the access site, and then

Quote:

just make sure you verify and repair disk permissions after installing the OS and everything should run smooth.

The official release of os4 made us have to go back to 2.75 for a while. If you repair disk permissions after installing we found it works flawlessly

type disc utility in the quick seach and click that after everything is installed. Clcik on your system drive, then click verify disc permissions (the 2 buttons on the left), wait a while.

Then click repair disc permissions. wait a while then good to go.

Now to tidy things up and run the thing

Peace out.

Athens Greece, there was a big studio clearance. He told me about it, at first I was like "the Virus sucks!!" then he said the guy is giving it away for 700euro to which I promptly responded "call him right now and tell him we are on our way to buy it! "

Its going to be fun proving my self wrong after I start using it

Damn, 700 euros is a steal!! I'm sure you'll eventually end up digging the virus, i have a polar too. If nothing else at that price you can use it as a great midi controller!           http://www.soundcloud.com/getafixmusic
