The TI will be much easier to get sounds quickly into your songs, since you won't have to deal with recording the synth like you will with a Nord or any other hardware synth.

You probably wouldn't get the maximum benefit of the G2 unless you are well versed in sound synthesis theory, or intending to seriously learn. I mean, that's true of any synth, but the point of getting a modular synth like the G2 is that it's supposed to be used to be more customizable, to build your own synth sounds from scratch, instead of another preset machine. Again, that can be done with any synth, but a Modular one has many more possibilities.

Of course, comparing the 2 desktop versions, the G2 is also like $700 cheaper than the TI... so... it depends what's worth what to you.           http://soundcloud.com/aeon604

the G2 has a lot more sonic possibilities then the virus, in principle u can even create a virus-clone with it because it's modular... but then u will have to find out what the oscillator waves look like exactly, to recreate them.. And u will need to look up how the filters of the virus function... Those are the 2 most important things for the timbre... So if u really want one synth that can do almost anything, the G2 is ur synth, but it will be very hard to achieve the same results with it that u can reach with the virus...

I love the TI, it really is so quick to work with.

It doesn't do much beyond what you could do with most vst's, though the quality and strength of the sounds is alot nicer and it uses 0 cpu. Its an awesome bread and butter synth, does everything from lush proggy pads/chords to twisted fm leads and deep bass, i cant live without it now.

personally i think the TI justifies buying hardware... 16 channels of high quality sound with independant fx + a nice interface to tweak on (that can also be used to control your vst instruments). I would need a really top pc to run 16 Zeta's and then shitloads of other plugins and fx on top of that

truly unique tones and textures are always going to be the domain of niche vsts and sample mangling... or look into getting a KYMA system.

Virus is designed to be a virus. Hard or Soft its a right cracker of a unit.

Nord g2, arr me pretties, it comes in a lovely red box. Modular synthesis is appealing if u r a freakin engineer! But it is red...

Outboard hardware roolz unless u got dsp acceleration. Get some!

Both units r great but i use the virus a lot more. Used to use the nord but as Aeon said its some serious brainwork and I dont have the bandwidth.
