Can you use the virus powercore effects as vst insert effects on other instruments other than virus powercore?
Also I saw that the virus powercore lacks some features the hardware virus has, like eq, minimoog filter, and number of modulation sources. Is there any problem loading patches that require these features? Is the minimoog filter one of it's best features, or I won't miss anything serious if I don't have it? |

From your description and what I seem to remember from the product description, the Virus PowerCore is like a Virus B. Not like a Virus C.
I have no idea if you can load Virus C patches on the Powercore Virus. It can't hurt to try.
As for using the effects, if it is anything like the hardware Virus, just set the input of a channel to "ToEffects" mode. |

Yeh. Virus | Powercore loads as a VST FX plugin. Just like you would line an audio sourced into the hardware versions 'audio in'. Vocoder, FX, and Filter(s)/LFO(s) are available at that point.
You can load hardware version patches, though Virus 'C' patches aren't 100% compatible.
Moog filter? Big whoop. |

I use a Virus for Powercore, and it's one of the purchases i enjoy the most. It does indeed load as a VSTi so it's really easy to program patches and it sounds awesome. You can also use it as an effect plugin, it even comes with a side-chainer, so you can modulate your signal with input from other mixer channels. I don't really miss the Moog filter, and i heard that it doesn't make a huge difference, but i have heard other people who think that the Moog filter is a big improvement over the Virus B (like the Virus for Powercore). As for the patches: i've dowloaded hundreds of patches from the Access website, and i haven't come across a patch that the Virus for Powercore didn't load. |
