Hi i'v been trying to record automation in cubase sx with no success. if i draw it, it works fine but when i actually play with the knob whilst recording it does not do anything?? so how do i record my automation from my virus??
and also i have imported the midi device manger of the virus, how do i control it with my external hardware, again i can record it whilst playing with the mouse. but how do i acutally make the cut off on the virus control the cutoff on the midi device manager??

ok basiclly i can record the automation..but not into the sub tracks... is it possible to do so?? what happends is i press record, play with the cutoff and it records it onto the main track in a new window which basiclly hides the notes. it does not record it into the subtrack which is chosen with its controller. i can only edit it through the key editor... any help? how can i actually record it into the subtrack ? |

U have to use the Midi control plugin as an insert - there u have to define the cc u want to control , in this case the cutoff. then u have to open a subtrack and then u can set up the respective control there. u cant record midi ccs to a subtrack as far as i know - this works only with vsts and for external gear is the midicontrol. u can set ur midi track to stacked recording mode, then the new midi part with ur recorded automation will not hide the midi part which contains the notes, u can decide then if u want to put them both in 1 part or leave them seperate. i usually leave them seperate so i know where which automation is at any time....
and, btw, --->> rtfm !!! ;-) that would help for sure.....

ok so i rtfm and found the solution for that(at least i think). I activated in the prefrences, The “MIDI Controller Input to Automation Tracks” and the the automation was recorded straight to the subtracks with no use of the midi control plugin.
