both are good synths imo.
listen to them both and see what you want/need.
virus (little experience):
warm moogish filters
good for pads, blips, bass and lower ends
less precise
nord (lots of experience):
hard nord filters
good for leeds, bass and noises.,
very precise
stands well on top of a mix.
if you're into synthesis then you might want to check a nord modular or micro modular., same sound as nord leed 2 but you can build your own synh architecture., my best toy ever

IMO both of these synths are very overused, im not saying that they are not good or that you cant make new and good music from them, what im trying to say is that you should try to use some other synth that will bring more innovation (maybe) and different sounds in to your music.
but if you have already made up your mind i would go for the nord i dont see really the point of getting the 2x, it is very more expensive than just a normal nord lead 2 which is also very good, with that extra money you could even maybe buy a analog synth

I've got the nord and I love it, wouldn't change it for nothing and it will always be in my studio, I've had it for a year now and each day I love it more 
Virus is other psy monster, I don't have much experience with it, but I know it leaves no one disapointed And has Colin said, its got built-in fx processors wich is a think that lacks in clavia synths
As NeutroN said, check if its really worth to get the Nord 2x...If you buy the NL2 you can do a lot with the rest of money...like getting an FX processor for it or a reverb or something like that |

1st don't you like the k-station?
Anyway i own the virus and i'm happy with him-
I think that you can't fall here. whether you'll take the nord or the virus. they both sounds gre8 and the advantages and disadvantages are more or less the same.
it's a matter of taste- go and hear them in your nearest store so you'll have a better picture.

If you can find any Roland JP8000/JP8080 in second hand, I'd advise you to take a look also...

I still think they have a totaly different sound.,., both are good in different things/feels.
I dont think you can realy overuse a synth, not with so many synthesis capabilities., but you'll have to program it and manipulate it.,
i agree that virus has more/better fx so if you want that go for the virus.
the nord has a bit more edge, so it's beter for sounds that need to stand out ..
also i think the envelopes of the virus are a bit slower/rounder than the nord. .. or something., not sure how to explain.,
anyway, i think they actually *complement* each other very well.,
als, as fluo suggests, it's worh checking out other synths too,. there are a lot of them out there,.,
