this link has nothing to do with virtual memory this is the trick that makes win xp pro use 3g of ram than the standard 2g limitation.

as for virtual memory goes if u have 1g of ram its good to double this amount in the virtual memory so we have 1g physical ram 2g virtual memory with the disadvantage of a more cpu usage (a very small amount)

with 2g physical ram and that is a large amount is better to use the same value for the virtual memory so u will have a total of 4g ram ready for use by ur applications and windows lets say that win xp pro use an amount of 300mb ram to be functional and cubase a 50mb just to operate that means that u still have an amount of 1.7g physical ram and 2g virtual ram.
even in my most ram demanding tracks in cubase and fl with lots and i mean lots of big and small audio file (cause vst/vsti use a very small amount of ram and only sample based/sample players like stylus etc use large amounts of ram)1.7g of physical ram is more than ok !

the only point of using a larger amount of virual memory is when u make tracks with large audio files and vsti like some huge bossendorfer grand piano modules and huge orchestral sample based instruments that use something like 1g of ram for the piano only than u need more physical ram and virtual memory!

in psy/electronic creation that large amounts of ram is almost never used (usualy maybe if u export 70 audio tracks for mixing the audio in 32bit 96khz u will need more ram but still i doubt it)

hope i helped
