hello ppl
i have been using virtual dj which is a basic software to play music..
i have tried traktor trial version as the full version is very expensive to buy!!
wht i wanted to knw frm ppl is tht how effective is virtual dj or traktor compared to the mixers or cd machines..
im open to any suggestions or techniques which can be useful to me.

maybe u should try to combine software and hardware =) so you get the strenght of them both

Personally i always prefer dj soft for the obvious reasons.
I remember 5 years ago when i started using Final Scratch and it was just perfect, besides the inconvenience of setting it up, the cables and the overall weight.
Between the two, i also prefer Virtual DJ, i find it easier to work with and not that busy on the GUI. And it's beat match quality is very good. No complaints here.
I'm using it with the Hercules RMX and the Asus Eee PC 900. Works flawlessly and it's the ultimate portable set-up in terms of hustle-free and no time installation(2 cables and one power supply needed).

If you hook up a mixer to your 4 output audio card then traktor works magic. you just get to use it as cd players and effects processor. It has really neat fx if you master them, which takes about a couple of spins  don't know about other software but i have been using traktor to play at parties a lot, and it is so much fun if you use all of its features - seamles looping is kick-ass as well as the fx section, you can also midi map all of its controls to a midi controller, which makes it even cooler. Enjoy

wht sound card do u use??and are u connecting the soundcard to ur laptop??cozz i did try fitting a creative soundcard but i cant upgrade the laptop

Hey, man. rules of this forum clearly say no illegal stuff anyway, i am using m-audio firewire audiophile connected to laptop by firewire (i use 6 pin connection adapter to run it without interruptions) and i recently hooked up my novation sl compact to midi control fx in traktor. Connect my audio card with 2 stereo rca's to the mixer's 2 channels
