hey peeps..
well i seem to have made myself into beleiving that am a decent dj...well in actual words i am nuthin compared to the actual djs...well the problem is i have been using this virtual dj thing on my comp called tactile 12000 this is a very very BASIC software..where u play 2 tracks simultaneously and mix at will and u can increase the tempo of the track and there is a cue button...all in all it is really BASIC...
but..here comes the catch...
i play it usually at home or at small gatherings with a few psyheads around(mind u the people i play it among are not stalwarts in psy as in they have been listenin to psy for the past 5-6 years at least and have a pretty good idea about the music and the tracks etc)
well i know my music really well and through practice almost all the time i have a pretty decent track selcetion and keep the crowd excited and liking the music...
well the question i have is...Is this fine to use at a larger gathering with a lot of people..or will it totally sound different among a larger audience...
i agree i am not proffesional etc but i am pretty sure of playin some good stuff and mixing tracks well and fading into another track etc...
so do i consider myself a virtual dj with this software or is this tooo basic to think about playing in front of a lrger audience

p.s in the end of the whole thing i am thinking to myself is this the right section to be posting this..but what the hell i hope to get some help...and btw i need the help quik coz i have to decide soon if i wana play in front of a large audience or not..as a VIRTUAL DJ

dude first try using something more realistic like ni tracktor wit some external controller if possible , then maybe u can consider playin in front of a big crowd. also try improving ur mixin skills and when u feel ur really good then is the time so practice till ur really comfortable with beat and also bar mixing

try traktor .............. thats the best virtual mixing s\w ive ever come across ............ and trust me u could do wonders in ur mixes on traktor .......... they can sound way better than djs mixing on real equip ......... the only problem is that people cant digest the fact that one can beat match on the click of a button ....... but in time am sure people would understand the benefits of virtual mixing ........ all the best dude .......... and as psypiv said
traktor + midi contoller (x-session or fader fox) =  .......... but ensure u have a killah sound card for gettin god sound quality ......... mp3 or wave dosnt matter till the mp3s are in high bit rates ..........

guys, lets not decide that the software he uses (tactile) is bad...maybe it is as decent as Traktor in the first place...
but like everybody says, if you have traktor, you can definitely rock anyplace...no need for equipments (or even controllers) imho |

Traktor is not the only good sw for djing. I think Mixmeister Pro for example is much more advanced.

well i finally got traktor...it is pretty complicated figuring it out..
well he software i use(tactile 12000) its jes a mini turntable and mp3 can be loaded on to it and mixing and all has to be done on ur own as in increase decrease tempo and the volumes of either can be alterd...
hehe its no where close to traktor

I just checked out Abelton Live for DJ'ing and that software is amazing.
I have now ditched logic in favour for live for producing, and I'm considering to ditch traktor as well.
The way you can throw in loops and fx in the mix with live is great.
And by prealigning the mix you have plenty of possiblility to take time to really play around.
It's definatly harder work with live and less hands on, but it seems the rewards is great if you take time to learn it.
And another great thing is that it can't play mp3 with live, so people don't have to bother to accuse me of doing that
But if you can get good mixes with the software you are using, there is no reason to change, unless you feel you have a need for the extra functionality of either traktor or live.
Soundquality will depend on soundcard and not much on the software you use.
The pitching can be better on some software than other, and if you notice that your software seems bad in that respect, compare with another alternative. (``·.¸(``·.¸(``·.¸¸.·`´)¸.·`´)¸.·`´)

yeah spindrift, Abelton live is amazing for live use...
i use it in my live set, and its realy nice... you can sync your hardware to wave files

works for me bro..
but only scared if it will work with 200-300 ppl i can easily do a good job only scared it mite not be 100% professional...
