The vinyl is a better format to play with then CD's format.
I was playing vinyls since i was 16 y.o. and for me there is nothing like the vinyls - better sound quality (imho) & easier to mix.
This days i use CD's couse the main problem with vinyls are that they are very expensive. if i had lots of money i would probably would be playing on vinyls.

It's not the question about quality .
all pro-level dj's always was, and will play vinyls .
if u need quality, try 24bit DVD, that's quality . |

Yeah!!! friends i defnatlly prefer vinyl !!! if it is a new one the quality is quite good and it's not just about quality it's also about eq and playing with it.
For example when you cut the mid treeble or bass in vinyl it really cuts all sounds and in cd it cuts but it always left a bit of what you cut.
Vinyl will never die for these reasons and if you see the biggest djs in the world not just in the trance scene but in all scenes they still play a lot with vinyl and this must have a meaning don't you think so?

I have to agree with the vinyl lovers here.
Actually vinyls are a virus I got infected quite some years ago and I really cant and dont want to get over it.
The sound quality of vinyls is much better than any of the digital equipment (I'm talking about depth of sound not clearness), and its most fun to play with.
Most of the labels dont release vinyls anymore because its an expensive procedure and there is no real profit in it so its basicly more for promotion than real profit.
There are enough labels though that stick to it through the years and some new (like us) that will not let this way of life disappear so soon.

i mix with vinyls and cds and in my opinion it's easier to mix with vinyls because you can touch them directly. about the sound quality i don't know, i like both.
but what i've noticed is that much more progressive/minimal 12" vinyls around (it is changing for the better at the moment i think) the melodic stuff i like is mainly on cds. and another advantage of cds is that if you just want to listen to an whole album you don't have to change the disks or turn them arround. on the other side the covers from the vinyls are much bigger and especially the old covers are very trippy looking!
so my final conclusion is that i prefere cds a little over vinyl, but i sill love and buy both!

i agree 100% with c3po!
I play with vinyl, but i have to buy some good stuff in cd cause never is released on vinyl.
However the vinyl´s problem is that some labels make with bad quality.
For ex: i buy the cosmo chaos ep @sst when he was realeased and by now he is all with that scrathy sounds. why that?
I´ve got vinyls at 3 and 4 years and are in perfect conditions.
Plzz keep the vibe on vinyl. |

Support psinyl! Theres nothing quite like caressing a pristene shiny heavy wide-grooved slab of laquered vinyl.
All labels reading this: you know it still makes sense to press more vinyl, regardless of cost, it'll endeavour you to DJs, keep the record buzzing and it cant be pirated easily!

I don't think it matters. Any really good DJ will be able to use either. For me CDs are better. I don't feel like lugging around huge heavy cases of records. CD wallets are so light. Besides its not about how you do it. The music is still the same and as long as the crowd is dancing who cares. I've seen sets done with MiniDiscs. No control on those. No touching the record to get it right. You just get it right the first time.
It's moving so fast, it's standing still. |
