I'm doing a school work about psy trance, and I need a web site with a small definition of the different genres (full on, progressive, goa, etc). Can any of you give me a site address or can tell me something about this? Thanks

ok, i'll try. remember it's a subjective question... it depends on the person.
dark psy: hard basses with some "dark" samples - like gothic sounds, wind sounds, monster sounds: creepy samples.
progressive/minimal: it can be hard or softer, the sounds fit one after the other very nicely. not many different samples at the same time though. more hypnotic, less psychedelic
full-on: hard bass music which builds itself from different psychedelic samples. these sounds keep piling up nice on top of each other until a explosion about 3/4 of the track. very psychedelic, less hypnotic
melodic/goa: very melodic music, makes you smile usually with deep basses, harder (goa) or softer (melodic). usually has a lot of samples at the same time. incredibly psychedelic, little hypnotical.
tech-trance: hard bass music, combining a little of the psychedelia from full-on, buildup like prog/mini and hard banging drum/techno samples. High pitched, fast music
eurotrance: well this is not psy, it's a whole different genre (the ones above are subgenres of psy). it's the combination of dance and house music bass with the melodies of melodic trance. |
